Kora Kagaz is a well-made family drama. It is realistic, simple and enjoyable. But the story of the film is nothing extraordinary. It is about a young married couple. She comes from a rich family, and he is a simple professor who lives a poor lifestyle with his aunt. She enters his house and the problems begin mainly because of her mother, who was never really happy with this marriage.The film stars Jaya Bhaduri in a fantastic author-backed role. She carries the film on her shoulders, and is undoubtedly the main reason this film works. There is something inevitably engaging about this pretty, petite and natural actress. She is always restrained, dignified and mature. She never goes over the top with her acting, even in scenes when it is easier to do so. This is an exceptional performance.I found Kora Kagaz lighthearted and nice. It is a decent 1970s Hindi film, but Jaya makes it even better and a must-watch.
