First of all the movie deals with god and his potential successor.
This movie is not a typical German comedy. It is more like a comic and i would compare it with the movies by Kevin Smith. It is a production of the "Wueste Filmproduktion", the guys who also made the movies by Fatih Akim which were no doubt great films. You don't have to take "Ein Goettlicher Job" seriously, then you have a lot of fun with it. The actors are the German elite especially Oliver Korittke did a very good job.
Conclusion: Don't listen to the critics...
