A two parter that started promisingly but lost it at the end!, 26 April 2000

This two parter that aired on BBC1 over the Easter weekend started very promisingly. The first episode which is Shakespeare's Birthday is also the anniversary of Will and Kate Green played well by Neil Morrisey and Devla Kirwin. Will is not happy with his life and sets his heart on a beautiful cottage in Stratford Upon Avon and also Alice his work collegue played sexilly by Amanda Holden. The first episode was great...with some lovely dialogue, humour and beautiful scenery that made England look fantastic. It also featured an hiliarious cameo by TV Gameshow host Les Dennis (Holden's real life husband). So far so good, yet the second episode failed to deliver what one was hoping. It was sombre, almost joke free and the plot meandered terribly. What was that scene with Neil dressed as Robin Hood about? It was totally out of character and seemed to be just added at the last minute for some much need humour. The ending was also a major disappointment...no cute little cottage at the end of the road!!
