Trivia:
The autobiography of which the film is based on was originally published under the name Through the Valley of the Kwai (and later as Miracle on the River Kwai) and then when this film was made, the same as this film's title (To End All Wars). This book also acted as a basis for David Lean's The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957). more
Goofs:
Factual errors: Lt. Jim Reardon or "Yanker" as he is referred to in the film, would not have been in a wheelchair in the camp. The truth is, his back was too severely broken for him to be transported anywhere. He spent the rest of the time in camp bed-ridden. He appeared in a wheelchair in the film simply for camera flow. more
Quotes:
Ernest Gordon: Lt. Jim Reardon, Merchant Marine, one of the few Americans in the area, attached himself to the Argyles during the Allied surrender. We called him "Yanker," because he was an American - and a bit of a wanker. more

haunting and powerful story, 20 January 2005
9/10
Author: luvvbuzz54 from london uk

i saw this film as i tend to like films of this type about humanitarian stories, the fact that this one is true actual events made it even more powerful for me. it truly does bring home the facts of what the men from ww11 endured to make our world today as free as it is, and it is films like this one that should be shown as part of history curriculum in high schools. the film was brilliant, brutal, honest, extremely well acted, filmed and managed to touch me to the point of tears. Robert Carlyle was fantastic, as were the rest of the leads, i would give this film 9 out of 10 simply because 10 out of 10 would be perfection and perfection does not exist.
