Plot:

A competition/reality show where a group of contestants are stranded in a remote location with little more than the clothes on their back. The contestants start off divided into two teams that compete against each other, with the losing team forced to vote a member off; when the numbers are reduced to 10 contestants, the teams merge and it's everyone for him- or herself. The lone survivor of this process takes home a million dollars.

Trivia:

It was decided that Survivor IV would take place in the Marquesas after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 made their original plan to film in Jordan unfeasible. Host 'Jeff Probst (I)' has said that the Marquesas was the "worst location ever" and would never be used again, due to the unbearable pain and discomfort caused by the biting No-No sand-flies.

The fourth entry into the highly popular "SURVIVOR" series is shaping up to be the best one yet!

After the disappointing and lackluster "SURVIVOR: AFRICA" edition, many viewers would feel that the SURVIVOR franchise would either need to grease its wheels and reinvent itself or retire with dignity. Thankfully, "SURVIVOR: MARQUESAS" opted for the first choice and it immediately shows in the first episode.

Returning to the 'island / beach' theme, 16 cast-aways are dispatched from a boat off the island of Tahiti in the South Pacific and into two tribes of 8, Maraamu and Rotu, they are to spend 39 days surviving nature and each other in hopes of winning the $1 million dollar prize.

Some new rules that have been implemented to rejuvenate the series is that each tribe is not given any food or fire to start out with. It is also a welcome relief to see the tropical surroundings that are very familiar to those featured in the first "SURVIVOR".

Judging from the first episode, some favorites have emerged. John, Rob, Robert and Vecepia all show promise. The one person standing out currently that could spell future trouble is Sarah. She could be this edition's resident 'Jerri'. As like the other editions, only time will tell who will become the ones we want to root for and the ones we just love to hate. Maraamu were the first to create fire, but Rotu won the immunity challenge. What a great premiere episode! What can I say, I'm hooked already!
