Amy Heckerling Gets Vampy with Krysten Ritter

7 November 2009 12:33 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

I hope you don't hate vampires, because they don't seem to be going anywhere. Now Amy Heckerling, the woman behind Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Clueless, is getting in on the bloodsucking. According to Screen Daily, Parlay Films has grabbed the international rights to an upcoming romantic comedy called Vamps, that Heckerling will write and direct.

"The film will be a modern-day tale of two young female vampires living the good life in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality." Krysten Ritter will star as one of the lead vamps, and they're still searching for the other bloodsucker. This marks a big jump from the actress, who has moved from bubbly side gigs on shows like Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars to some cinematic supporting roles, a lead gig in the web series Woke Up Dead, and »

The Vampire Diaries 1.08 "162 Candles" Recap

6 November 2009 12:23 AM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Damon has officially went rogue on my "Ish List" as the diabolical bastard I would love to stake. Sure, he's interesting when it comes to plot and story, but he has entered the "Love To Hate" pile for TV characters after tonight's events.

A Blast From The Past

Stefan is shocked to find that his old vamp buddy Lexi (guest star Arielle Kebbel, "Gilmore Girls", John Tucker Must Die!) shows up to celebrate Stefan's 162th birthday. She is a bubbly vamp and seems to take up the same ideals as Stefan. In short, I'm in love. But is it me or does it look like something is wrong with Arielle Kebbel's face? She doesn't look the same to me. Anyway…

Let me list the reasons why I love Lexi: 1), she hates Katherine, 2) she hates Damon even more and 3) she gave us an answer about the rings the Salvatore brothers wear, »

Episode Preview: Vampire Diaries: 1.08: "162 Candles"

5 November 2009 7:49 AM, PST | TVStar | See recent TVStar news »

The Vampire Diaries (TV) is clearly showing they are not messing around and will not play nice if need be. Vicki (Kayla Ewell) has been attacked twice and eventually transitioned into a vampire only to be killed by Stefan (Paul Wesley). In Stefan’s defense, Vicki was trying to kill the woman he loves, Elena (Nina Dobrev). However, now that Elena has learned the truth of Stefan and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) she wants nothing more to do with him. She is very afraid of Damon and while she is afraid of Stefan, she does not show it so obviously. Also, if vampires weren’t enough of a story line, there is Bonnie (Katerina Graham) who is learning that she is a descendant of a long line of witches and she shares many of their powers. Bonnie has been able to create a few mysterious happenings, such as lighting a »

In Thursday's episode of The Vampire Diaries (8/7c on the CW), Stefan (Paul Wesley) is marking his 162nd birthday and best bud Lexi (Arielle Kebbel) comes to Mystic Falls to celebrate. While Kebbel (Gilmore Girls) tells TVGuide.com that Lexi is unlike any of the vamps we've seen before — she happens to have a fun and bubbly side — she's still quite dangerous. Gilmore Girls Creator Inks Deal with HBO

21 October 2009 11:44 PM, PDT | TVStar | See recent TVStar news »

Before Gilmore Girls, rapid fire banter did not exist. The mother-daughter team of Rory and Lorelai created a new trend and while on air did something remarkable to households worldwide. Gilmore Girls made mothers cool, and it allowed mother-daughter teams to bond every week over the antics of the silly and adorable Rory and Lorelai. Oh, how we miss the days of the Gilmore Girls, but wait, have you heard the buzz about a new show by Amy Sherman-Palladino? Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) gave us seven great years of fast talking mother-daughter hijinks. Never had a show highlighted the beautiful and complex relationship between mother and daughter in the way Gilmore Girls did. At times the relationship was messy, leading the duo to fight, at times the unbreakable bond was extremely moving, but more often than anything else, we witnessed four generations of the Gilmores »

Sorry, Gilmore Girl Fans

16 October 2009 5:15 PM, PDT | Movieline | See recent Movieline news »

In her first interview since taking over Maura Tierney's role in Parenthood, Lauren Graham told Michael Ausiello that fans shouldn't expect her new character to have many Gilmore Girl similarities: "She's a single mom, yes, but I don't think the tone of the show is the same. The sound of Gilmore Girls, that voice, is so unique to Amy [Sherman-Palladino]. It's a grown-up show, too. It doesn't have some of the more whimsical elements of [Gilmore Girls]. It's more realistic." Harsh words for Stars Hollow. And what about that mythic cinematic reunion of Lorelai and Luke? Graham teased Gilmore superfan Ausiello with this mock pronouncement: "[It's] in the can. It's coming soon to a theater near you." [EW] »

HBO picks up a series from the creator of "Gilmore Girls"

16 October 2009 9:00 AM, PDT | AfterEllen.com | See recent AfterEllen.com news »

As happy as I am that Lauren Graham is coming back to series television, I can’t help wishing she’d waited just a bit longer to sign the Parenthood contract.

Why? Because HBO announced Tuesday that Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino will write and executive produce a new dramedy for the cable network.

The series is about three adult sisters, all writers, sharing an apartment in the upper east side of NYC. Their domineering mother is a “literary lioness” who dotes on their ne’er-do-well brother. According to Sherman-Palladino, “It’s the story of love, hate, family — and finding the perfect opening line.”

To capture the spirit of anticipation that I have for this series, you have to ignore Sherman-Palladino’s most recent effort, The Return of Jezebel James, and relive the glory days of Gilmore Girls via this clip from “Donna Reed Night” (after the very loud commercial »

Exclusive: 'Gilmore' girl Lauren Graham on her big TV comeback

Sometimes the way the TV biz works leaves me scratching my head, going, "Huh?" Other times, I get it... it's fate. This is definitely one of those. Because although ABC passed on Lauren Graham's comedy pilot, she's still returning to the tube this season, on NBC's buzzy Parenthood series. And here, in her first interview since agreeing to step in for Maura Tierney as single mom Sarah, the Gilmore Girls gabber explains why she decided to join the all-star ensemble, why her new character is nothing like Lorelai, and what her new gig means for that much-discussed-by-me Gilmore movie. »

TV Guide said that the character named Rita will appear in November 23 episode titled "Maple Swirls" which celebrates the Turkey Day.

Lily and her friends visit her grandparents who have been plagued by Elliott's Mickey aka their son. Rita and her husband are hosting a Thanksgiving dinner. There is still no word on who will be the grandfather.

On another news, TV Guide also reported that Barney will have a competition later this season. Robin is set to have a new co-anchor on her early morning show, "Come On, New York, Get Up" and he, whose name is Don, will catch her attention.

HBO snags Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino

14 October 2009 10:07 AM, PDT | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

Recently, I spent a couple of hours watching Gilmore Girls on SoapNet. The experience put a smile on my face and reminded me that I miss the kind of dramedy that Amy Sherman-Palladino created on that show.

The show remains a near perfect blend of character, comedy, drama and emotion to me. So, when I read this morning that Amy Sherman-Palladino is doing aproject at HBO about a mother-daughter relationship, I let out a "yeah."

True, true, true, Amy's last show was the disappointing sitcom -- hell, call it like it was, dreadful -- The Return of Jezebel James at Fox. No excuses. It was a mess. Still, I'm more than willing to give this writer another chance to soar again.

After mining mother-daughter relationships to great success in Gilmore Girls but finding less luck with sisterly bonds in The Return of Jezebel James, writer Amy Sherman-Palladino is combining both themes for her new HBO pilot. THR says it will feature three writer sisters who live in the same building, "and their mother, a domineering literary lioness who reserves most of her affections for their ne'er-do-well brother." I suspect it will also feature Sherman-Palladino's signature rapid-fire patter, this time with swears. [THR] »
