It has been quite some time since Brian Yuzna got behind the camera (most recently beneath Still Waters, Rottweiler, Beyond Re-Animator), but the producer-turned-director is looking at making his next project in 3-D. In Amphibious 3D, a marine research expedition to the exotic Sumatran Sea turns treacherous as it encounters a supernatural prehistoric creature resurfacing with a vengeance. On Monday, October 5, shooting commenced on Exorcismus, the latest fear film to come out of Spain’s Filmax studios. As with so many Spanish genre productions of the last decade, this one is also directed by a relative newcomer to feature filmmaking, Manuel Carballo (taking over for originally slated Luis de la Madrid). And in common with most of the company's previous horror movies (such as Arachnid, Dagon, Darkness, The MacHinist and Beyond Re-animator), the movie is being filmed with a multinational cast in English, on locations in and around the city of Barcelona.
The cast includes Resident Evil: Apocalypse’s Sophie Vavasseur (pictured), Richard Felix from Filmax’s Fragile, which still has yet to see U.S. release, Hellraiser stalwart Doug Bradley and the first Resident’s Stephen Billington. The movie has already been presold to a dozen countries, including Mexico, Italy, Brazil, Poland, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. Most »

Holy crap! I forgot about the hilarious music video on the Beyond Re-animator DVD featuring the "Re-Animator song"(?) Thanks to the creators of Terror At Blood Fart Lake for reminding me about it. The movie with possibly the best title of the year (okay it is the best) comes to DVD June 16, and the cast recreated the Re-animator music video as a trailer or promo I guess? You can watch their version and the original below. I suggest both. »

If you can’t get enough of genre-film bad-asses Kane Hodder and Vinnie Jones, Lionsgate Home Entertainment has your fix this summer. New indie horror features starring the tough-guy actors are slated to hit DVD shelves in June.
Streeting June 23 is writer/director Brendan Foley’s Irish chiller Legend Of The Bog, a.k.a. Bog Bodies, starring The Midnight Meat Train’s Jones, Beyond Re-animator’s Jason Barry and Nora-Jane Noone from the Descent films, Doomsday and the upcoming Day Of The Triffids miniseries. The story centers on a 2,000-year-old murder victim who has been mummified in a peat bog, and is inadvertently awakened to terrorize a group of the living.
In Born, coming June 16, a virginal 21-year-old girl (Parasomnia’s Alison Brie) suddenly finds herself pregnant, with her growing fetus developing an evil influence over her. Hodder co-stars as Asmodeus/the Cardinal, and the cast also includes Joan Severance »

The good doctor Herbert West has defied death before and now he's looking to make a comeback. Not in a sequel, however, but in a remake. (C'mon, don't act surprised.) ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned producer Ray Haboush is developing a remake of Stuart Gordon's "Re-animator". Haboush operates Automatic Media and is the owner of Halcyon International Pictures. He'll be shepherding the project with Brian Yuzna, producer of the original '85 and director of "Bride Of Re-animator" and "Beyond Re-animator". There have been talks in the past of a "House Of Re-animator" and a television series. None of which have come to fruition. Haboush and Yuzna are looking to do the remake in 3-D. And since it's so early in the game, there's no word as to whether Combs would return to reprise his... »

It seems that Hollywood doesn’t have the wisdom to read Screen Rant’s remakes and sequels article, as they seem persistent in continuing the trend. The latest classic horror film to get the remake treatment is Re-Animator. But not only will it be remade but it’s to be in 3D too!
As if bringing dead bodies back to life wasn’t enough on its own…
Thanks to ShockTillYouDrop we have the news that producer Ray Haboush is developing the remake of the 1985 horror film, alongside the producer of the original film Brian Yuzna (who also directed Bride of Re-Animator and Beyond Re-Animator).
Haboush and Yuzna are planning to develop the project for 3D, and there’s no word yet if star of the original Jeffrey Combs will be coming back or not.
The original Re-Animator is a film I have very, very vague memories of (the only thing »

Stuart Gordon, creator of the “Re-Animator” franchise, recently tried to get the latest installment of his horror series made, but ran up against political correctness. Or as Gordon tells it, people loves George W. Bush so much, they can’t stand a movie mocking him. (Obviously Gordon believes this, as he’s kind of loopy in the head.) Apparently with Obama in office, the mega love for Dubya is gone, and now it’s time for … “Re-Animator” the Reboot! (Just go along with it.) Says Styd: ShockTillYouDrop.com has learned producer Ray Haboush is developing a remake of Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator. Haboush operates Automatic Media and is the owner of Halcyon International Pictures. He’ll be shepherding the project with Brian Yuzna, producer of the original ‘85 and director of Bride of Re-Animator and Beyond Re-Animator. So instead of a sequel, they’re going with a reboot of the original. »

Campy, shockingly obscene and lacking a whiff of moral compass, 1985's Re-Animator spits in the eye of good taste, and does it with naked, obese zombies and H.P. Lovecraft hysterics. I've often wondered how the film even got financing during the chastity belt Reagan era, but the notion someone would be willing to tackle the film now is even more laughable with how P.C. we've all gotten. Then again, Last House On The Left just got a reboot and no seventeen year old girls are forced to piss themselves in Re-Animator. Maybe that's why Lester Burnham and Ricky Fitts bonded over its greatness in American Beauty. According to Shock Till You Drop, the classic horror flick which has already spawned two sequels is getting a full, possibly even 3D make-over. Brian Yuzna who helmed Bride Of Re-Animator and Beyond Re-Animator is back on board as a producer and ... »

I don't buy into the cult classic phenomenon all that often. For example, Donnie Darko does nothing for me, and neither does Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator, a film I finally saw a year or so ago and wasn't impressed or entertained in the least. So, when I hear a remake of Re-Animator is on the way it's hard to drum up any interest either way. However, I will say I fully expect a new version to improve on the original. The news comes from Shock Till You Drop who says producer Ray Haboush is developing a remake to the 1985 feature that only screened in 185 theaters back in the mid-80s on its way to just barely over $2 million. The film, which is based on a story by H.P. Lovecraft centering on a medical student with a bizarre interest in re-animating dead tissue, has found plenty of life and a following on home video. »
