The series is a spin-off of the two year earlier movie All Stars, with the same cast and characters. A very similar story, also in Dutch about a talentless amateur soccer team, independently made in Belgium, catering for Flemish idiosyncrasies, also started as a motion Team Spirit, then got a spin-off series "Team spirit - de serie", a second movie "Team Spirit 2" and second season of the series, but slightly renamed "Team spirit - de serie II". moreSoundtrack:

I know. All Stars was not the best movie ever made. But it was fun. Well made and effective. This TV-series that came out later, does not have the same feeling about it. The direction is just a bit less tight. The acting a bit sloppier. The scripts not as inspired. A shame. I'm sure they could have made a sequel for the movie theatres that would have been much better. Now they just made mediocre television.
