Since the chief character in "Dragonheart" dies at the end, I didn't expect a sequel, but thought it was neat when they came up w/1. If you've seen the 1st, you should know that this isn't a carbon copy - but that's no problem, since there's always something to replace what was left behind & works equally well. Geoff (Chris Masterson) is a stable boy who longs to become a knight, when he discovers the world's last living dragon, apparently whose egg was found at Draco's nest. Drake (Bobby Benson) has been shut away in Gilbert's monastery (this is decades later, so he's not around anymore) & hasn't learned to breathe fire, fly, or even venture outdoors, because of a prophecy that a dragon's heart will end mankind. Geoff thwarts the monks' plans by leading his new friend into the outside world, where they win the respect of Osric, the village leader who has his own secret reasons for taking interest in Drake. As Geoff is respected & trained to become a knight, a Chinese warrior girl & her master arrive - to kill Drake because of the prophecy. Drake & Geoff accept these 2 as friends, since they obviously like him despite their mission. But as they get used to their new lives, neither can foresee the evil approaching them. This is pretty different from the original, but not worse - even if the main character/"hero" is selfish for a time. The heartbreaking moments are replaced by comical 1s, the atmosphere of war becomes trying to find peace, new characters have experiences slightly similar to their idols from Dragonheart but in different ways. Watch for the dragon breathing ice, & the tributes to the old characters, & enjoy.
