Interesting... but could have been more, 24 May 2002
Author: Schlockmeister from Midnight Movie Land

Interesting documentary on a photographer who photographs nude people on the streets of New York City.

I recall a few years ago seeing a segment on perhaps it was HBO's series REAL SEX, where they had a photographer who shot nudes in New York, perhaps it was the same guy. I bring that up to say that that segment, which lasted about as long as this film did, did much more to capture the nervousness and risk that the subjects went through to comply with the photographers wishes.

This film focusses much more on just the photographer and his almost constant yelling at the people to move here and there and yelling at his assistant for not assisting as the photographer thought he should. The film comes of as something just interesting to watch, but you never really understand from the film what the artist's purpose is for all this, what his philosophy is. It is almost expected that you know him and his work.

Not many non-New-Yorkers will have heard of him. And no context is offered.

Marginally recommended.

An Excellent Film!, 22 November 2002
10/10
Author: Jello Biafra from Los Angeles

I don't know what movie that other reviewer was watching, but this movie was truly excellent. The photographer seems like a bit of a jerk, but the filmmaking is very, very well done. The film is exciting, and gives you a good sense of the chaos that takes place at one of these "events". Excellent editing.

This is a great documentary about a truly mediocre artist trying to make sense of his work. It is honest and allows the viewer to make up their own mind about this "artist" - well done Joshua!

I gave it a "10".
