I enjoyed "Groove" quite a bit. I don't think it matters too much that I am not too knowledgeable of that culture. I liked it for some of the same reasons that I loved "American Graffiti" - they're both full of young characters who are taking a break from their realities to get together and have fun. And they're both kind of sentimental/bittersweet (though this one much less than that 1973 classic). A lot of the reviewers have not liked it. It seems a strange reaction to come down on a little movie like this. It's got minimal aspirations, it's really low-budget, it's fairly simple and straight-forward... I got it as a promo copy. I enjoyed it and am sure I will watch it again for what seems to me pretty authentic atmosphere and for its likeable, slightly forlorn characters.
