Harvey Keitel Joins ‘Little Fockers’

12 November 2009 2:50 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Harvey Keitel has joined the cast of Little Fockers, the latest in the continuing Meet the Parents trilogy starring Ben Stiller.  This will re-team him once again with acting legend Robert De Niro.

Keitel will play a contractor employed by Stiller’s character, reports THR. The plot focuses on the Fockers struggling to raise two 5-year-old twins.

Teri Polo, Blythe Danner, and Owen Wilson are also returning. Jessica Alba and Laura Dern are new additions for the July 2010 addition. Paul Weitz is taking over directing duties from Jay Roach, who will stay on as a producer.

Try as I might, I can’t get excited about a third one. I thought Meet the Parents was silly fun, but the second was a mess trying too hard to be funny. Besides, Keitel isn’t necessarily known for his comedic roles. His last true comedy was Be Cool

Harvey Keitel will join Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner and Owen Wilson for the third entry in the Meet the Parents series, Little Fockers.

Hot stuff Jessica Alba along with Laura Dern are also joining the cast.

Paul Weitz (In Good Company) will direct with John Hamburg’s adapted script from Larry Stuckey. Keitel will play a contractor employed by Stiller’s character.  Jane Rosenthal and Jay Roach, who directed the first two films in the franchise, are producing.

No word yet on whether or not Dustin Hoffman or Barbra Sterisand are returning to reprise their characters.

Food for thought: Did anybody notice Harvey Keitel’s uncredited cameo as the American O.S.S. operator who speaks to Col. Hans Landa’s (Christoph Waltz) conditional terms of surrender to Brad Pitt’s Aldo Raine at the end of the film?

Keitel + De Niro = Little Fockers

12 November 2009 | Cineman.ch/en | See recent Cineman.ch/en news »

After working together in the classics "Mean Streets" and "Taxi Driver", Harvey Keitel and pal Robert De Niro are back together. Millions of cinephiles would probably rejoice at the news that Harvey Keitel and Robert DeNiro, who worked together in the classics "Mean Streets" and "Taxi Driver", will be back together soon, but the excitement would most likely be dampened by the news that the two legends will be working on the third installment of "Meet The Parents". Far, far from Martin Scorsese's tortured and fascinating world... In "Little Fockers", Ben Stiller and Teri Polo are back, of course, as are Blythe Danner and the hilarious Owen Wilson, while Jessica Alba and Laura Dern will join the cast for the first time. Keitel and De Niro have also worked together on movies that have nothing to do with Scorsese: in the dark "The Bridge of San Luis Rey", the »

Harvey Keitel is Now Part of the 'Focker' Franchise

12 November 2009 2:52 AM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

One of the most annoying things about throwing yourself knee deep into movies a little later in life is all the catching up involved. It's endlessly frustrating to know I have seen all but one of Paul Weitz's films and still haven't seen everything from Spielberg or even Scorsese. What's even more frustrating is I am expecting to receive About a Boy from Netflix in the next couple of days, which will complete my viewing of the Paul Weitz-directed filmography. Of course, that's my fault for not renting The Sugarland Express or Bringing Out the Dead, but after seeing the lame Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant and American Dreamz before that, I needed to see why so many people kept telling me to see About a Boy just so I can mark it off my list and be done with Weitz. That is until he unleashes the »

Casting News: Harvey Keitel Joins Those Little Fockers, Zachary Quinto Eying Romantic Dramedy Whirligig

12 November 2009 2:00 AM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

In casting news tonight, we've learned that Harvey Keitel is joining those crazy Fockers. He's signed on for Little Fockers, the sequel to Meet the Fockers, and the Focker-pun free title Meet the Parents.  He's joining returning cast members Ben Stiller, Robert DeNiro, Teri Polo, and Owen Wilson. Keitel will be playing the role of a contractor employed by Stiller's character. The film will be directed by Paul Weitz (American Pie, About A Boy), who's surely looking to move on after Cirque du Freak bombed. I liked the first film well enough, but I'm really wondering how much longer this franchise is going to live on. Will we see the baby Fockers in question growing up while having to deal with their unfortunate last name? Perhaps a Future Fockers down the line? The possibilities are focking endless! Also, in news that will surely make Zachary Quinto fangirls happy, the Heroes »

Little Fockers = Mean Streets 2...?

11 November 2009 11:57 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

They’ve only made a handful of films together but, given that two of those films can rightly be considered amongst the greatest ever made, it’s fair to say that a Harvey Keitel/Robert De Niro reunion is something most film fans would want to see. And now they’re about to get their wish. For, to the Scorsese double whammy of Mean Streets and Taxi Driver (sorry, James Mangold, but Cop Land doesn’t quite make the list), we can soon add… Little Fockers?!? Oh. Wow. Well, they do say be careful what you wish for.Keitel has signed on to the third film in the Meet The Parents series (to call it a trilogy would be far too grandiose) which will, of course, reunite the comedy team of Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. Good gravy! Here’s a Nsfw clip of Casey Affleck spanking Jessica Alba in the upcoming Michael Winterbottom film, The Killer Inside Me. The films centers on a small town deputy sheriff who turns out to be a psychopath. As you can see…Affleck plays said psychopath.

Joining Affleck and Alba are Kate Hudson, Simon Baker, Elias Koteas and the immortal Bill Pullman.

The film is based on the Jim Thompson novel that  was published in 1952.

Alba is also currently working on Little Fockers, the third entry in the popular Meet the Parents series.

The Killer Inside Me is due out sometime in 2010.

Food for thought: This isn’t very sexy…it’s actually really weird.

Weekend Movie News Wrap Up: October 26, 2009

26 October 2009 7:55 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

This week:

Over the weekend the box office Saw some Paranormal Activity; Carl Ellsworth was hired by Paramount but he wants C.O.D (Cash On Delivery); True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten is Griff the Invisible; Derek Mears gears up for Predators and Laura Dern Meets Stiller and family.

Wow. It looks like the Saw franchise has finally come to a grisly end. The sixth film in the horror franchise opened with 50% less than what was predicted, earning a not-so-good $14.7 million. The film probably only cost about $15 million to make, but this poor gross means that it’ll have to have some serious overseas takings to make new installments viable.

The flipside to Saw’s demise was the $22 million that Paranormal Activity took over the weekend - from a thousand less screens than Saw!

With a cost of approximately $11,000 (yeah, you read that right) it looks like Oren Peli’s »

Dinner For Livingston

26 October 2009 6:53 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Yeah… If you could just… go ahead and act in… Dinner For Schmucks… That’d be great.. Office Space’s Ron Livingston is set to join Paul Rudd and Steve Carrell in comedian heavy ‘Dinner For Schmucks’, the new film from the director Jay Roach, of ‘Austin Powers’ and ‘Meet The Parents’ fame. ‘Dinner For Schmucks’ is actually a remake of French film ‘Le dîner de cons’, which should be comforting to anyone panicking at the idea of an original concept coming out of Hollywood. The film’s protagonist, Tim Conrad, hosts  a regular dinner party for his friends, encouraging them to bring along the most idiotic person they can find. These idiots are then asked about their lives, passions, anything to make them talk. Then, after they leave, the group of friends proceeds to mercilessly mock them, the aim being to find the world’s worst dinner guest. Steve »

Ron Livingston Has a Dinner For Schmucks

26 October 2009 6:30 AM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

Ron Livingston is the beating heart of Mike Judge’s Office Space, a movie that has transcended cult status and is pretty much one of the finest comedies to be released in the 1990s. He’s also pretty notable for the role of Captain Lewis Nixon in Band of Brothers on HBO.

Now, he’ll be joining director Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents) for his new film Dinner for Schmucks.

According to Variety, the film “is an adaptation of the Francis Veber-helmed French film Le dinner de cons, in which a group of bourgeois friends regularly invite the biggest schmucks to dinner to ridicule them.”

The cast that’s shaping up for this film is phenomenal. It’ll be headed up by I Love You, Man’s Paul Rudd and The Office’s Steve Carell, who of course acted together in The 40-Year-Old-Virgin. They’ll be joined »
