Mortal Kombat has to be one of the best fighting games from the 90's. I remember back in '92-'93 skipping school and going to the arcade in the mall to play this game for hours it seemed like. This was the first game to ever have such cool finishers, after you beat your the other fighter, the machine would say "finish him." Through hitting various buttons and joy stick movements, the characters would do very gory and cool finishers (Sub-Zero's was my favorite.) As most know, they made several sequels, but the only one that matched the original and in most cases was better was MK2. However, stay away from MK3, and UMK3 from 1995-1996, they sucked big time (I don't know why, but MK just doesn't play well with the combo system they included in these sequels.)The home system versions of the original were good too (except SNES to say it was censored would be an understatement.)However nothing comes close to the arcade version in terms of being really fun even to this day. You can still find this game in a few arcades, so if for some reason you've never played this game, you should try it at least once you might like it.
