Before winning the role of Maria DeLuca, Majandra Delfino originally auditioned for the part of Liz, which eventually went to Shiri Appleby who, like Heigl, tested for all three female lead roles, winning the lead of Liz Parker after several callbacks. more
Goofs:
Factual errors: In the second season, Tess points out Barnard's Star to Max while the two are standing in the middle of a fallow field. Despite Barnard's Star's relative proximity (just under 6 light-years), it isn't visible to the naked eye. more

I think the show is really good, but was a downer because I came into it on the Third Season after reading the books. Even though the third season was a let down, I saw the first and second season on Sci-Fi, and they were great. I guess you have to have an active imagination to watch it. The show was great because not only did they have the right amount of Science Fiction, there was some good comedy in it. Definitely going to buy the DVD.
