I give this film a bit better than a 5 because I cant help to find it likable.Yeah its a very simple story who would make everybody think of the much superior cult classic "The button war" but it does what it is supposed to do,it entertain the kids and it mildly entertain the grown ups. I'm sort of a kid at earth so I a actually enjoyed it.The kids are acting and talking like real eleven year of age , something I enjoy because I hate watching theses kids that talk like adults in American movie it put me off the story. I think what I liked the most in that film is that it reminded of my own experience in summer camp when I was Martin's age , the bullying by the other kids , the feeling that the counselors did not understand a think you were telling them. This film captured really well what a typical French summer camp outing is like when you are a kid,I enjoyed that and it made me nostalgic. The problem with this film is when its trying too hard to be funny and its not even for kids,I remember viewing that film in "la Fete du cinema" in the late 90s,somme part that were meant to be comical fell horribly flat, and not even kids in the audience were laughing, these moments most of the time were when the adult cast were going over the top to be comical when they should have just realized that in a kid film such as this it is best to leave the comical material to the kids. Cute little film, that's all.
