Sequel in name only...kind of

Urban Legends: Final Cut continues the exploits of the killer who uses urban legends as the modus operandi. This time out the killer sports a fencing mask instead of a parka. A bit more clever but it seems to owe a lot to a certain hockey masked psycho don't you think? At any rate, this sequel finds none of the characters from the first who survived returning. This time the killer is stalking film students. The references to urban legends this time out are much more oblique. Whereas in the first film people had mostly heard of those legends, these aren't quite so obvious. In fact it took a couple of viewings for me to figure out some of them and there are others that I still haven't figured out. While it has its moments, this one never lives up to the potential set forth by the first film.
