This two-part documentary first states the facts of the case, i.e. the Ronald Defeo murder case, then shifts to dealing with the conflicting sides of the infamous Amityville incidents. Did it happen? Or was it just a hoax, albeit an extremely elaborate and masterful one?
Either way, the interviews with the Lutz family are creepily believable, describing in detail their ordeal while inhabiting the notorious house.
But the viewer is given no proof to corroborate either side of the story; one of the paranormal researchers stated it best: "To the believer, no proof is necessary. To the skeptic, no proof is possible." You are basically your own jury, it's up to you where to base the stance of your beliefs.
