Massive ‘DJ Hero’ Set List Revealed

As you have seen, we’ve been closely following the release of DJ Hero, the next step in rhythm gaming from Activision. Today is no exception as the company has now released the full 93 song set list for the game. While all club styled mixes, remixes and mashups, DJ Hero boasts one of the most varied collection of artists in any Hero franchise release.
With everything from the Jackson 5 to 2Pac, Daft Punk to Queen and everything in between, that variety of DJ Hero’s playlist is unmatched, as long as you like mashups and remixes. If you are a musical purist to the extreme, this game isn’t really what you’d be looking for.
In addition, the game will feature 10 tracks where players can plug in their Guitar Hero guitar and play alongside their friend on the DJ Hero turntable for a true real time rock / dance mashup. »

Activision already named its headlining talent behind the music of "DJ Hero," but today the company released the names of all 93 mixes that players will face during the game's set list. Featuring extra helpings of Daft Punk and Jay-z, the list includes big names 50 Cent and the Beastie Boys to late legends like DJ Am and 2Pac. Even fans of Weezer and Queen will find something to like, as the samplings come from all over rock and and hip-hop. Check out the whole track list after the jump.

Who's the private dick that's a sex machine to all the chicks? Well, as all blaxploitation fans know, that would be Shaft (damn right!), the cool-as-they-come detective Richard Roundtree originally portrayed in the 1971 movie of the same name. But the description pretty much also applies to the titular character in the new blaxploitation spoof Black Dynamite, a lady-attracting, drug gang-battling, ex-cia agent played by, at least according to the trailer below, "all-star running back Ferrante Jones." In fact, the role of Mr Dynamite is actually essayed by actor and martial arts expert Michael Jai White, and the clip's Grindhouse-style attention to period detail (it claims that the film is also being presented in something called "cinemaphonic quadrovision") is just one of its many charms. Turner Classic Movies is honoring New York's Fashion Week with a list of the films it has deemed the most sartorially influential of all time. Black Dynamite Directed by Scott Sanders Although director Scott Sanders' Black Dynamite is being touted as a brazen spoof of 70's blaxploitation films, its tone is less 'spoof ' than it is simply tongue-in-cheek. Yes, there are pimps, pushers, ho's, nunchucks, polyester suits and 8-track tapes, but Sanders does not rely on these conventions to be the butt of the joke. What makes Black Dynamite unabashedly funny are the super-machismo one-liners and wildly absurd action sequences. Horror movies really are like monsters. Just when you think they’re dead they reappear out of nowhere despite the passage of time and the vagaries of the marketplace and critics pens. Great ones have the power to lift you up out of the ordinary world and leave you shaking in disgust, fear, or overwhelmed by dread or a sense of displacement. That’s the reason I creep through the vaults of any studio that will let me in. I hadn’t seen any of these Blue Underground titles before and when they told me that five out of six of the titles I had asked to write about were available I was excited to have the chance to check them out.

Christian Bale's Rollercoaster Career

From Pacman to Public Enemies, he's had more ups and downs than most other actors of his generation. Christian Bale has careened between extreme highs and deep lows, in the view of the folks at MovieFill, and they decided that a rollercoaster was the most apt visual metaphor for his career. They squeeze most of his films into the chart, though they left out a few. Before his sensational role in Mary Harron's American Psycho, he was very appealing in Metroland and got good notices in Todd Haynes' Velvet Goldmine; pre-Batman Begins / The Dark Knight, he was fun to watch as a frisky villain in John Singleton's Shaft and an uptight, would-be psychiatrist in Laurel Canyon. I don't agree with every notation in the chart. Harsh Times, for example, is cited as one of his "lows," but Bale was riveting. »

The project is "loosely" based on a Salon.com article (read it here) about the high-end repossession business, in which agents travel all the world to reclaim "play toys" including private jets and speedboats. Shane Salerno (Armageddon, Shaft, Avp: Requiem) will write the screenplay. Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be producing, but not writing, License to Steal. First, we saw Rupert Grint wearing his leather jacket in Empire Magazine, and now word is out that he is friends with none other than Shaft himself, Samuel L. Jackson! The Press Association is reporting that Samuel L. Jackson will host a charity event in London on June 11th and has invited some of his celebrity friends, including our very own Rupert Grint. The event, being thrown to raise money for The Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, will include a luxury ball at the Hurlingham Club and day full of Rupert’s favorite past time, golfing, at the London Golf Club. This summer, two of the biggest tentpoles are Sci-Fi sequels involving robots. Naturally, both films want to be the robot movie of 2009, so some piss and vinegar are to be expected. A few months back, Transformers director Michael Bay took a snipe at Terminator Salvation's trailer for having a giant robot in it, calling it a rip-off. Terminator director McG responded back by saying Bay didn't invent giant robots (Really?!).
Some fanboys sided with either franchise, most simply groaned, while movie blogs had a field day laughing at Bay and McG's eight-grade dispute. But were they playing right into the two robot masters' hands? Bay confirmed that they were indeed.

It seems that every role for Christian Bale is a type of event. He is famously known for lunging himself into his roles, usually playing a hero (Batman) or villain (Bateman), or an obtuse mix of the two (Jim from Harsh Times). Considering his work in the past ten years, he both portrayed iconic characters (Bruce Wayne, and now John Connor) and in turn has made some of his characters iconic (Patrick Bateman of American Psycho). With each role he seems to meet his standard of impressiveness, though this could be argued against his take on John Connor in Terminator Salvation (you can read Jeff Bayer’s review here), chugging ahead with even the most lackluster of roles and movies (Reign of Fire) and unearthing a certain type of quality not many other actors can provide. When I announced I was seeing Terminator Salvation yesterday, I got a note from Rob, a longtime reader, which said Let us know if the cinematography comes across as especially intrusive to the thespian process. Heh. I am happy to report that unless Christian Bale's eyes are particularly sensitive to bleached colors and shadowy sets, Shane Hurlbut's lensing didn't intrude on his thespian process at all. But Bale intruded on Bale's thespian process.
I liked Salvation a lot more than this next statement will imply (review later) but... John Connor was a dud. [editor's note: Isn't he always?] Christian Bale bored me silly. He used to be a thrilling and unpredictable actor. Now I feel like I'm seeing the same performance over and over again. It's like he's lipsynching to his own Arias of Intensity.
Since Bale has given at least one undisputably genius performance ("Patrick Bateman", American Psycho) I'd like to cut »

Vin Diesel to star in film version of Wheelman

Vin Diesel is to star in a live-action film adaptation of the Ubisoft video game Wheelman, which launched last month with the actor as its producer and central character.
Paramount Pictures has hired John Singleton to direct the movie, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura as producer, reports Variety. The screenplay is by Rich Wilkes (who penned Diesel's 2002 film xXx), Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell.
Diesel will play an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past.
Singleton previously directed the Shaft remake in 2000, along with 2 Fast 2 Furious, the sequel to Diesel's 2001 flick The Fast and the Furious.
