Another Bad Name for us Americans, 25 April 2006

Thank god for Kal Ho Naa Ho. Otherwise I felt that movies about NRIs would continually be thrashing us after I saw this. I mean as an American I have much more respect for elders some of the people in my country. I mean we have one of our top actresses living here (Madhuri) and she came back, with her excellent dance moves and spirit. That was a good reason of how we American Desis have good hearts. Otherwise if it weren't for the completely different second half, this movie would deserve a lower score. The story is very nice (besides portions of the first half), and about fate. The sights in New Jersey/New York was amazing as throughout the movie you get to see sights (unlike Pardes). The comedy track is very nice. The Dunkin Donuts workers were very funny and I wish Aishwarya Rai worked at my nearest Dunkin Donuts. However Aish was below average as this is probably her worst acting ever (after Albela and Jeans of course). Don't get me wrong she does improve in HDDCS, but then again she is just there in the second half. She does look hot in that blue bathing suit. Akshaye Khanna had two different parts in one role while he is much better in the second half. Rajesh Khanna was really good, but only appeared in the second half. Suman was excellent, but roles like this (where it makes no sense) will leave her in the shadow. The rest of the cast is nowhere to be found. The songs are okay. Mera Dil Tera Deewana (My Heart is Crazy For Yours) is my favorite song (why not with Aish and Suman in hot bathing suits). Yehi Hai Pyar (This Sure is Love), however, looked like it was filmed years before the rest of the movie was made but Aish's beauty and dancing made it better. The rest of the song aren't worth mentioning beside the sad song, Tere Bin Ek Pal (Without You for a Minute), and Otashi Anata. This movie is worth a watch in the second half as that's where the movie picks up.
