  • Continuity: The thickness of the Encyclopedia of Urban Legends changes while Natalie is holding it.

  • Continuity: When the girl is trying to escape from the gas station attendant at the gas station, she drives off with the pump still in the gas tank. The next shot of her vehicle shows a rear shot of the SUV and the gas cap is screwed back into the gas tank.

  • Continuity: When Sasha is flipped over the railing, she catches hold of the platform. In different shots her hands are in different positions.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Parker's body falls out of the closet his pulse is seen in the side of his neck.

  • Plot holes: In the final scene, the lead character's abdomen is seen being cut open with a scalpel. We then see her scream in pain. Minutes later, she is no worse for wear, considering the major incision in her stomach. There is no more mention of this "pain" for the rest of the film because the scene was added at the last minute.

  • Continuity: After one character has been hit with an axe, it swings into view without a drop of blood on it.

  • Continuity: In the finale, the slide projected changes from shot to shot.

  • Continuity: In the opening scene at the gas station, Michelle is wearing heeled black boots, but when she leaves the gas station, feet with different shoes are shown in the close-up of the pedals (which are the pedals of a much older vehicle). The shot is taken from later in the film.

  • Factual errors: Blood congeals after half an hour exposed to oxygen; it is therefore impossible that the character's wrists would still be bleeding enough to soak through the white sheet that the coroner's men put on her in the morning.

  • Continuity: At the Frat party, Paul and Natalie are sitting talking about what's going on. Paul puts his hand on Natalie's face and Natalie then puts her hand on Paul's wrist near his thumb. As the shot changes from Paul to Natalie, her hand appears and disappears with each shot.

  • Crew or equipment visible: In the car, the camera and some lights are reflected in the killer's faceplate.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: The volume on the car stereo has been turned right down when Natasha pushes a tape into it, yet we can still hear the tape.

  • Continuity: During Sasha's radio show, she removes the spoffle (pop shield) from the microphone. It reappears on the mic seconds later, then disappears again.

  • Continuity: When Damon falls from the tree, he goes through the windshield head first. In the subsequent shot of Damon's corpse, his head is sticking out of the windshield.

  • Revealing mistakes: Parker's cordless telephone is in memory mode, not caller ID mode when he receives a call from the killer.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When we hear Parker say, "What's next? Spiders in the bubble gum?" his lips are mouthing something else completely.

  • Continuity: Throughout the movie characters hair will go from dry to wet, to dry again.

  • Continuity: When the campus police lady slips on the large puddle of blood in the professor's office, her whole back side should be covered in blood but in later scenes there is no blood on the back of her pants or coat.

  • Continuity: Near the end of Sasha's chase scene, she enters the room and locks the door. However, the killer manages to get in without unlocking it.

  • Continuity: At the end, when Brenda punches Natalie, she punches her on her right cheek. When Natalie regains consciousness, the bruise is on her left cheek.

  • Crew or equipment visible: There is a safety cable visible when Sasha is hanging over the stair-rail (at right arm).

  • Plot holes: According to the main character's back story, she and her friend ran a guy off the road by flashing their lights (per urban legend regarding gang initiations). At the end of the movie, the Rebecca Gayheart character shows the main character a newspaper clipping whose headline reads: "Boy killed in apparent gang initiation." But this can't be the case, because when the main character told the back story to the Jared Leto character, she says that they explained the prank to the police immediately after the accident, which is how they got off so lightly. Therefore, the newspaper wouldn't have printed a story speculating that the accident was related to a gang initiation.
