Continuity: A radio news report recounting the events of the previous film, The Touch of Her Flesh (1967), refers to Angelique's character as the killer's third victim, when she was in fact that film's survivor. Even if she was killed off-camera between the two films, she would have been the fifth victim and not the third. more

Whatever happened to Gigi Darlene?, 27 June 2007
Author: Pete Tha GEEK! from Copenhagen, Denmark

I have no idea if the first movie 'The Touch of Her Flesh' became a blockbuster of any sort. But demented NYC couple Michael and Roberta Findlay was motivated to do not only one, but two sequels so there might had been a decent audience. Or maybe they had a lot of fun doing it? The movies at least gave Michael the opportunity to grope on various naked women while his wife was filming it! He is back again as patch-eyed psycho killer and weapon expert Richard Jennings even though he died in the first movie! The plot of 'The Touch of Her Flesh' is even briefly explained through a radio announcement and to be honest it doesn't look exactly as I remembered it! But I don't think we should think too much on 'The Touch of Her Flesh' anyway. Right now it is all about 'The Curse of Her Flesh'. After a creative credit sequence, with the credits written on the walls of a filthy public toilet to the sound of a guy taking a leak, and after some footage with a stripper named Cindy Freemont we get to the supposed plot. Jennings is alive all right and is now running a burlesque house where it seems like he is doing all the jobs from manager to janitor! I also seems like he has gotten his eye back cos sometime he is without the patch! But he is still a hateful man and he use the burlesque house as the base for his next mission of revenge, this time it is to kill his late wife's lover Steve in the most tormenting way possible! Members of both sexes dies from the hands of Richard Jennings before he will present his final nasty surprise for Steve. The murder tools this time include a sword, a harpoon and a deadly modified strap-on! Was the latter the inspiration for a similar killing in 'Se7en'? Could Michael Findlay seriously be an influence for such a celebrated movie? All I can say for now is that while the scene in 'Se7en' was taken so serious it was silly the scene in 'The Curse of Her Flesh' is delivered pleasantly over the top and is a little more graphic too. Linda Boyce, the girl who bear this dildo of carnage, is actually far better actress than one would expect in a movie like this. She brings a Russ Meyer-esquire attitude to her character and it doesn't hurt either that she is a real babe. She also appears in two rather explicit scenes of S/M and bondage that could be in great interest for whoever with a passion for the pre-hardcore adults-only cinema. Otherwise we got much of the same from the previous film. Exactly the same soundtrack, similar brilliant locations, stylish photography, non-stop nudity and a general weird atmosphere and pacing. It is certainly not for everyone but it is pretty fun and fascinating in a twisted way. The climatic fight scene is not great staged, but it is shot on the back of a running open truck with no help from stunt doubles! This IS hardcore film-making! Already after the end the next movie 'The Kiss of Her Flesh' is announced. In the credit sequence you can spot the line "Whatever happened to Gigi Darlene?" tagged on the wall. And what happened to sexploitation starlet Gigi Darlene anyway?
