Sunday night on the Auntie Beeb. Just another hackneyed cop show churned out to show that the British government could outdo the Americans in the crime drama department. The lower budget show Z Cars -- presumably its predecessor, since they re-cycled actors -- was way grittier and routinely featured the rozzers bitch slapping stroppy tarts in roadside cafes. There was something about the accent used by the lead dick that simply screamed "bad actor." However, since it was filmed around Maidstone it was popular at my school, but I refused to get into it.
This lame act had to compete with the sophisticated spy show Rat Catchers on ITV, and I made my choice early on in the game. Since I lived with my grandmother who loathed the filth, the choice was a no-brainer.
