'White Slaves of Chinatown' was made in '64, but could at first glimpse just as well have been made 30 years earlier. It is a dead-ringer for an old roadshow attraction, the sort of films shown at carnivals, supposed to scare and inform the audience about the hazards of drugs, sex and alcohol, as an excuse to show some brief nudity! We have Olga, a vice madame who runs a Chinatown-based brothel with an iron-fist. Girls from everywhere are kidnapped and turned into prostitution under the force of extinctive torture and drug-addiction. There isn't really anymore plot in this. The budget was so low that the film is presented silent with a narrator, who gets hilarious racist when the accuse the Chinese for being the cause of heroin and slavery! In a bizarre shot, Olga make deals with her mob-connections who looks like math-teachers. Nonetheless, 'White Slaves of Chinatown' was a novelty with it's unheard brutal scenes of device torture and bondage! Unlike the original roadshow movies, this one probably gave the audience their moneys worth! Also shown is an abortion and girls smoking weed with stupid grins. It's never erotic and the girls aren't attractive, but a single blonde named Gigi Darlene who in fact is quite sensual and looks out of place. The viewer will even get a little bit of torture, in the shape of the score, a short snippet of Chinese music that runs in a loop in the entirety. Apparently the film sold well, because it spawned four sequels where of one is lost and the final didn't feature the same leading lady Audrey Campbel and had little in common with the previous entries at all.
