The early 90's! The film industry didn't have a direction; Disney's animated films took the lead in the early 90s' and were the "hit" and popular films (if you watched these films you were cool, action films were the blockbusters thanks to the 90's innovative f/x techniques, comedies weren't as popular as in these days but quietly became popular. The genre that reigned the 80's suddenly left it's throne without advice, I'm talking about the horror genre. Subsequently it's most popular derivated sub-genre the slasher died first in the early 90's.Several attempts to re animate the slasher sub genre were movies like FRATERNITY DEMON. The plot involves devil invocation, possessions, kills, and sex with a demon. PROM NIGHT III The Last Kiss from the late 80's is an example of how to mix sex, geeks, and low budget with slasher elements. Troma and Full Moon never gave up at trying to keep the genre alive and I can't say they failed but surely didn't succeed. The slasher sub-genre turned into a cult genre and became a guilty pleasure. This sub-genre hid in the darkness for almost half a decade. The slasher sub-genre needed elements from other genres to stay fresh and attractive to the consumers. The help came from soft light comedy, not complex drama, and soft core. Black comedy and gore couldn't survive the decade transition and weren't required in the 90's that much. The slasher sub-genre had a second chance to stay strong but couldn't stop it's fall to the guilty pleasure status. After my nostalgic complaining... FRATERNITY DEMON made use of the soft core porn elements mixed with the slasher genre. A fraternity of losers invoke a sex demon and suddenly their fraternity party turns out in a weird event filled with possessions and of course... SEX. The sex scenes are terrible, even worse than the early 90's erotic thrillers staring Shannon Tweed or Tane McClure. There is NO gore here, not even an attempt to create scary scenes or a horror related storyline. The slasher genre was dead by 1992 and FRATERNITY DEMON was just a maggot that didn't even enter the coffin. DON'T watch this one even if someone gives you the DVD as a present or anything. Ironically, the DVD business did bad at first mainly because of the high costs of the systems, and the difficult transition from cassette to cd. The VHS beat the DVD industry at first also because of the few available titles. FRATERNITY DEMON wasn't a clever choice as one of the first DVD releases. FRATERNITY DEMON doesn't works as an ultra low budget slasher, nor as an erotic thriller. This is just a BAD movie, that bad it's terrible! Not even funny and cannot turn on anyone. Anyways this trash shouldn't even be considered as horror. The scariest thing about this one is the DEMON word. There's nothing good about this one, please stay away from it.0/10. Bury it!
