Trivia:
This movie was first in development in 1993, with John Candy cast as G. It was then put in development hell following the actor's death. moreQuotes:
G: Seventy-five years. That's how much time you get if you're lucky. Seventy-five years. Seventy-five Winters. Seventy-five Springtimes. Seventy-five Summers. And Seventy-five Autumns. When you look at it like that, it's not a lot of time, is it? Don't waste them... moreMovie Connections:

Tom Schulman puts 'Holy Man' down. The idea is good, that's it!
A Flop network home shopping channel is saved when a Holy Man enters. The characters are ordinary, Murphy's character which is supposed to be the life of the film looks kiddish. Poor Writing and not-so encouraging direction bores.
Performance-wise: Eddie Murphy is alright. His character doesn't work. Jeff Goldblum is very good, he doesn't go overboard even once. Kelly Preston looks pretty, that's about it. Others are adequate.
On the whole 'Holy Man' disappoints big time. The film had the potential to hit the bull's eye, but it doesn't.
