Fun Stuff

Trivia:

As depicted in the film, the real Leonardo da Vinci kept the Mona Lisa with him all the time until his death. more

Goofs:

Anachronisms: The ages of King Francis I and Prince Henry, and references to Cartier's voyages to America, set the movie in about 1540, when Prince Henry was 21. However, the movie also depicts Leonardo da Vinci coming to France at the invitation of King Francis. Da Vinci came to France in 1516 and died there in 1519, the same year Prince Henry was born, and 15 years before Cartier first sailed to North America. more

Quotes:

Marguerite: I was not shrill, I was resonant. A courtier knows the difference.
Baroness Rodmilla De Ghent: I very much doubt your style of resonance would be permitted in the royal court.
Marguerite: I'm not going to the Royal Court, am I, Mother? No one is, except some Spanish pig they have the nerve to call a princess.

Best Ever!, 13 February 2005
10/10
Author: Moonlyn Butterfly from Toronto, Canada

To me this was the best remake of a fairytale ever! And I don't care if it's because I'm a girl and this is girlie material- I still loved it! Drew Barrymore personified this interpretation of Cinderella like no other. Angelica Houston was a kick ass evil stepmother. The combination of these two dynamite stars in these two classic roles created an unequaled magic. And of course let's not forget the freakishly handsome Dougray Scott who played Prince Henry. He graced the screen with a hypnotic charm that challenges any prince any day. This is my all time favourite movie. I can watch it over and over again. And I challenge any man to watch this film and understand what romance is really all about.
