Method Man to Star in Gareth Maxwell Roberts' The Mortician 3D

6 November 2009 10:56 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

This is not the usual project we write about, but I just thought it sounded cool enough to mention. THR has announced the cast for The Mortician 3D, produced by Belladonna Productions, from the on-going Afm. Hip-hop star Method Man (last seen in The Wackness) will headline along with Angelic Zambrana (last seen in Precious). Tom Hardy (Bronson) and Edward Furlong (American History X) are also in talks to join as well. The "gritty, urban drama" was written and is being directed by Gareth Maxwell Roberts (Kill Kill Faster Faster). Shooting starts this month in Louisiana. It may sounds bland, but read on for story details. The Mortician 3D is a redemption tale where kindness triumphs over cruelty and falls within the genres of urban noir, contemporary fairytale and psychological thriller. The film is set in the nightmare ghetto of a decaying metropolis and is based around about one man's »

26 October 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

"Eclipse" actress Jodelle Ferland claims that hackers descended on her website, which would explain the disarray currently on display if you visit Jodelle-Ferland.net. Her "Twilight" series costar Ashley Greene seemed to be having a much better weekend, however, taking in the U2 concert at the Rose Bowl Sunday night. Greene was joined by Danny DeVito, Demi Moore, and a host of others who tweeted pictures from the night.

Elsewhere, Tom Felton and Emmy Rossum are still undecided on their Halloween costumes, but Felton has officially nixed a Dalmation outfit and Rossum may be warming up to Pippi Longstocking. Check out what they had to say after the jump along with Edward Norton doing yoga, Billy Burke's "Harry Potter" shout-out and Stephen Fry's new secret video game role. It's all in the Twitter-Wood report for October 26, 2009.

Monty Python, Thom Yorke And Miley Cyrus As Pocahontas In Today's Twitter-Wood

5 October 2009 4:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

There was a lot to catch up on in Twitter-Wood today after my long weekend, including the 40th anniversary of Monty Python's first appearance on television, which member John Cleese and fan Edgar Wright both noted. Elsewhere, Edward Norton and Danny Masterson had good things to tweet about Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke's live solo performance, and Miley Cyrus and Ashley Tisdale joined Paris Hilton among those tweeting their Halloween costume plans for 2009.

There is loads more to check out, though, believe it or not, as James Gunn tweeted a pic of himself offering juice to a horse that may belong to Rainn Wilson and Jeremy Piven posted a behind-the-scene shot of Matt Damon from "Entourage." I can't even summarize it all today, I retweeted so many people. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is your Twitter-Wood report for October 5, 2009.

An 'Eclipse' Makeup Artist, Fred Durst's 'Star Wars' Statue In Today's Twitter-Wood

1 October 2009 3:00 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

An epic week of "Twilight" TwitPics continues, this time with Peter Facinelli offering an actor's eye view of his favorite "Eclipse" makeup artist. Rachelle Lefevre also unleashed a few shots of her and her dog, who may not be an artist, but definitely looks soft.

Other Twitter revelations today include Fred Durst's affinity for a Boba Fett statue that he refuses to part with no matter where he moves, as well as Lloyd Kaufman's rundown of Troma films that studios have offered to remake. Read on, and you'll find out about all of that, as well as where to find the "Toy Story 3" trailer and how big of a drinking glass Jerry Lewis can stuff into his mouth. I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter-Wood report for October 1, 2009.

The Fall season always means two things -- it's time to wrap up marathon training and start planning Halloween costumes. Edward Norton and Paris Hilton are on top of those tasks, respectively. Norton's planning on running with some Kenyans in New York on November 1st, while Paris is hard a work costume hunting, but you'll have click on down to see where she's shopping.

Also today, Alyssa Milano emphatically denied that she is pregnant, so rumor-mongers back off. Thomas Jane to Star in Glen Sherley

29 September 2009 9:29 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

While talking with Thomas Jane about his upcoming directorial debut Dark Country, which is set to hit DVD on October 6th, the in-demand actor revealed that he will be playing Glen Sherley in a biopic about the armed robber turned country musician. Shirley was a prot&#233g&#233 of Johnny Cash that escaped Folsom Prison to become a singer songwriter. He penned Cash's song Greystone Chapel, and later killed himself under the pressure of the spotlight. The film is being directed by Tony Kaye, and shooting will start after Jane finishes the second season of his popular HBO drama Hung.

While chatting with us about his character in Dark Country, a man that detested country music, Jane had this to say about his upcoming biopic Glen Sherley:

Dude, what do you have against country music?

Thomas Jane: (Laughs) You know what? I have absolutely nothing against country music. In fact, »

Edward Norton Evades Avengers Questions

28 September 2009 4:10 PM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

Edward Norton’s a pretty versatile guy. He’s able to ricochet between roles in heavy stuff like 25th Hour and American History X while still maintaining a presence in slightly lighter fare like Fight Club, The Illusionist, and The Incredible Hulk. You might notice that those seem pretty heavy for their genres, but then again, Norton’s a pretty serious guy.

He takes his career pretty seriously as well, which is why he won’t give a solid answer to the press about his potential involvement as Bruce Banner in the crossover Avengers film. The response he gave MTV when questioned about the role was ambiguous:

“I get very busy. You have to deal with the demands of your moment. I tend to keep my head in the thing I’m doing and I don’t speculate or worry too much about what two or three blocks down the thing is going to be. »

'Wanted' Screenwriter Gets His Game On - Who's Next?

17 August 2009 7:02 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

In the same way that higher-profile actors are jumping on the video game ship sans shame, so too are movie writers like Wanted's Chris Morgan. Morgan has signed up for a rather daunting task - working as the story director for the massive and practically holy sci-fi series The Wheel of Time by the late Robert Jordan. Variety reports that this job entails "overseeing the writing on the titles, working with executive producers and writers to help develop story arcs and helping to digest the book series' 10,000 pages and over 1,700 characters."

(Of course, Morgan and the other two screenplay writers, Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, were taken to task by fans for not sticking to the original comic book story all that much. However, compared to comic book purists, the wrath of Robert Jordan fans can be deadly. Or so I hear.)

Morgan isn't the only screenwriter who has »

Former Skinhead Battles Racism With Hockey

19 June 2009 1:35 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

The last thing we expected from Frank Meeink was a new appreciation for hockey. Movie buffs may know him as Derek Vinyard, Edward Norton's neo-Nazi character in American History X. The 1998 film was loosely based on Meeink's life. Loosely, Meeink told us at the Reconciliation Forum in Washington, D.C. The real-life version has no cathartic moment or dramatic ending. The true story begins after the credits. Oddly enough, it involves hockey. Meeink grew up in Philadelphia watching the Flyers. The games were his escape. At home, Meeink was abused by his step-father. At school, he was beaten up for being the only white kid. "Imagine you shook a pop bottle for 13 years," he said. "But I could always watch the Flyers." But hockey wasn't enough and the 13-year-old found another escape - a hate group. Using the Bible, the... »

Meth Mouth: Tom Siebel's Brash Anti-Crystal Campaign

11 May 2009 6:00 AM, PDT | Fast Company | See recent Fast Company news »

Brash and obsessive, tech tycoon Tom Siebel believes that keeping teens off crystal meth is largely a matter of educating and scaring them. Could he be right?

As you might expect of a self-made billionaire, Tom Siebel exudes inexhaustibility. It's tiring just being around him. One afternoon last fall, Siebel bounds into the kitchen of his sprawling ranch house in central Montana, and after he takes very firm hold of my hand -- "Tom! Good to see you," he announces, shaking away, as if I might not have learned the name of the man whose 72,000-acre property I am visiting -- he asks, "Want to see some elk?" Siebel is wearing jeans, a plaid work shirt, and nerdy wire-rim glasses. He is out of breath because, in the hour since he stepped off a private jet from California, he has destroyed a round of clay pigeons on his shooting range. »

This Week on DVD: Yes Man, Doubt, The Day The Earth Stood Still

An Oscar-nominated film, new comedies from Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler, and a mediocre Keanu Reeves sci-fi remake... that pretty much sums up this week's DVD releases. If you ask me, you'll probably want to save your money, although I wouldn't mind seeing I.O.U.S.A.
