• Continuity: Walt Price reads aloud from a brochure that the Old Mill was built in 1825. Then there's a tight shot of the brochure and you can see clearly that the text says the mill was built in 1838.
  
  
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Price is seen to use two different models of cell phone; it's not unreasonable that someone using cell phones so much would carry more than one.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: When Annie and Joseph are standing outside the book store in the rain, a cameraman, wearing a white raincoat, is reflected in the glass door behind Annie.
  
  

• Boom mic visible: Reflected in car window near end of the picture.
  
  
• Continuity: When the writer swears his oath, the clock shows 3:00. In the next shot, the clock shows 2:55.
  
  
• Continuity: When Joseph and Annie are sitting in front of the statue towards the beginning, Joseph's coffee switches hands between shots.
  
  
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The quote: "Ann Black: First organized fire department was on the border of Dalmatia and Sardinia in the year 642" is completely false. In fact the first organized fire department dates back at least to ancient Egypt, and in ancient Rome year AD 6 form an idea of Marcus Egnatius Rufus. Additionally it was, it is and it will be physically impossible for Dalmatia and Sardinia to have a common border.
  
  
• Factual errors: The train used near the end of the movie is actually a Boston Commuter Rail, which does not travel to VT.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Joe White and Annie are in the restaurant and Joe is pondering over how to fix the movie, on the counter in front of him are some yellow note pages. When Annie accidentally hits his sore finger, a close-up of the yellow paper reveals it to be story notes for this actual film, State and Main.
  
  
• Continuity: When the PA accidentally erases the mayor's dinner from Tuesday (originally in red pen) on the calendar, she cleanly erases before rewriting it (in green pen)). No day is visible whilst she is writing, however later in the scene it is clearly still for Tuesday and not for Wednesday. Later in the film, we see that both dates have the event written in their respective colors (and in very similar handwriting), with the red writing looking faded, as if only bits of it had been erased.
