Trivia:
"Vitani" was originally "Shetani." It is possible to hear characters refer to her by that name. It means "Devil" in Kiswahili, however, and Disney may have thought it was inappropriate, thereby changing it to something a little less offensive. "Vitani" has no meaning in the Kiswahili language, from which most of the characters' names are drawn. more

A Wrothy Sequel, 5 November 1998
Author: shorty_d from Guam

Many people sometimes have doubts when it comes to sequels. Especially Disney. Not so good sequels to Aladdin and Beauty and The Beast were just blowing my mind. When I first heard about Simba's Pride, I said to myself "They better do this one good." I saw some previews and had a few doubts. One of them being Neve Campbell as Simba's daughter. Thankful, nearly all the returning characters are being repraised by their original voice talents (except Zazu which I didn't like). At the end of the video, I was surprised. Disney was careful on making their sequel. They didn't try to make it more of a children's movie and used the story and plot wisely. The voice acting was well done and I really enjoyed the movie. There are a few drawbacks that I thought were really not good. The important one was that the hyenas were no longer in the film. It was them who stole the show. The sequel ends up replacing them with Nuka who is voiced by Newsradio star Andy Dick. Nice work. I'm proud to say that Disney has done an excellent job with the sequel. Well done. I didn't think they could pull it off, but I guess they needed to since the original is a major success in popularity and box-office sales. Now to think about Lady and the Tramp II...
