Originally, there was supposed to be a scene showing raptors boarding the ship before it left port, so they could kill the crew without the T-Rex leaving its secured cell. This scene was never shot because they were never able to justify raptors running around San Diego while the T-Rex was.
Well it'd actually be easier to tell you what is the *same* in the book and the film. There is about a 95% difference between them. The characters, Ian Malcolm, Sarah Harding, Eddie Carr and Kelly are the only characters that are in the book and the film. Though in the book Kelly is white and has no relation to Malcolm at all.The baby Tyrannosaur with the broken leg, setting the broken leg, having the parents come and destroying the RV trailer are in the book as well.In the book InGen has gone bankrupt therefore they do not go to the island to take animals back. Instead, Lewis Dodgson (The guy who pays off Nedry in the first film and book) is a scientist for the Biosyn corporation, so he goes in with two other Biosyn employees to try and steal eggs from each species of dinosaur. The plot of going to the island to observe and document the animals in their natural habitat with the field equiptment is the idea but they have to rush and get to the island to rescue Dr. Richard Levine who went ahead of schedule to the island. In the film it was Sarah Harding and Malcolm goes to the island to rescue her. In the book Malcolm was already planning on going to the island with Levine and was going willingly. John Hammond had nothing to do with sending them as he was killed in the first book. For more information on differences between the film and novel visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lost_World_(novel)#Differences_between_the_film_and_the_novel
Yes. During the San Diego scenes there are various shots of people running away from the T-Rex. Immediately after the bus drives through the video store is a shot showing just a crowd of people running through the streets (1:52:57 in the movie). A seventeen frame snippet from this shot was used in the entrance video for World Wrestling Federation stable D-Generation X in December 1997 (though it may have been used earlier than that). Since the movie premiered in the U.S. on May 19, 1997, it didn't take long for footage from the film to become stock footage. You can view a short video comparison showing the film clip first, and the D-Generation X clip second. Also, a shot of swirling ocean waves was reused in a dream sequence from David Koepp's psychological thriller, Secret Window (2004), an adaptation of Stephen King's Secret Window, Secret Garden, starring Johnny Depp.
In the film, John Hammond explains that Site B is where the real research was done and where they actually bred the animals and then continued breeding them on Site A.In the novels however; Site A was napalmed at the end of Jurassic Park. In the novel for The Lost World, Malcolm explains they were shown a bunch of fancy equiptment and a nursery and Hammond told them this is how they hatched and raised the Dinosaurs. Site B is where they did their top secret research before shipping them to Site A.In the movie it is never mentioned that Site A was destroyed, but we can assume that there was such a small population of Dinosaurs on Site A that they either died off or wouldn't have significantly shown how the groups of dinosaurs interact in the wild. There was a deleted scene mentioning Site A was destroyed but since this was cut from the movie it is believed that the island still exists and the dinosaurs are probably alive or not.
Probably grown up or living with their respective mothers, as he mentioned that he is always looking for the future ex-Mrs Malcolm, and therefore may have children with several women. Or he was lying about their existence to Grant in Jurassic Park.
Yes, only two (Roland Tembo and Peter Ludlow). Most of the hunting team were killed by velociraptors in the tall grass after they failed to heed the warning of Tembo's hunting partner, Arjay. After Tembo is informed of Arjay's demise, he now has a new perspective of hunting and the consequences that can stem from it. When Ludlow exclaims that Tembo has claimed his prize, Tembo remarks at the costs (the death of the team) of his "success". Ludlow is later killed in San Diego after he tries to kidnap the baby Tyrannosaurus, unaware that his father has heard it's screams and has arrived. The adult T-Rex injures Ludlow, then allow's it's young to make it's first kill.
Given the fact that he suddenly freezes and his eyes are fixed on one point (presumably a window, looking towards the woods) he saw one of the T-Rex's charging towards the trailer.
Because he wasn't in the novel either. However, in the novel, he is mentioned being in China.
