Continuity: When Austin is brought back to the present, two women take a clip off each ear, but they reappear.
Continuity: When Austin Powers knocks out the woman in the party at the beginning, her hat gets knocked off, but when Austin grabs her/him, the hat is back on.
Continuity: Vanessa's golden cup disappears after Austin's laptop beeps.
Continuity: When the computer rings in the bedroom, the digital clock is lit. When the clock is shown again the clock is blank as though it were unplugged.
Continuity: When the Fembots are first introduced, they are wearing see-through jackets. There's then a close-up on one of the fembots, without a jacket, and in the next shot all three are wearing those jackets again.
Revealing mistakes: When Alotta Fagina steps in her bathtub, she takes off her robe, after which we have to believe she is naked, but you see a kind of underpants around her waist.
Anachronisms: When Austin is dancing down a 1967 London street, some of the street corners have modern curb cuts.
Revealing mistakes: During the final "nude" scene with Austin and Vanessa, Austin rises slightly off of the sofa, and the patch used to cover his genitals is revealed.
Continuity: Commander Gilmour's face changes expression between words when he's barking orders right after the discovery of the Big Boy.
Continuity: In the edited television version, Alotta Fagina's name is changed to Alotta Cleavagé. Yet in Dr. Evil's lair, after Austin and Vanessa are captured, you can clearly see a switch labeled Alotta Fagina. (Although this error was on the part of the network censors rather than the filmmakers.)
Revealing mistakes: While Dr. Evil is preparing Project Vulcan for launch, just before the warhead is armed there is a shot of the drill being lowered into place. Judging by the extras accelerated movements, it is clearly discernible that the shot was sped up.
Revealing mistakes: When the British soldiers burst in on Project Vulcan at the end of the film, the exploding "metal" door is obviously made of wood.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Dr. Evil speaks of Prince Charles' marriage to Princess Di (not knowing of the divorce) and Austin uses a mental image of Margaret Thatcher, who was a relative obscure cabinet member when he was frozen. But both of them took crash courses on the intervening years; while clearly incomplete, they may have included this information.
Continuity: As Austin enters the casino bathroom stall, he goes through the motions of pulling down his pants, but when he sits, his pants are still on. In the next stall, as the Texan looks down into Austin's stall, his pants are down around his ankles.
Continuity: In some places Austin isn't wearing his teeth, most noticeably during the scene with Alotta and her hot tub.
Continuity: When Austin and Vanessa are playing the game "Twister", Austin spins the spinner clockwise, but a close-up shows that the spinner is moving counter-clockwise.
Anachronisms: In the opening sequence, a British policeman is shown with a nightstick and wearing a helmet with riot straps. In 1967, a police officer would have only been issued with a truncheon (a 12 inch long piece of wood). The helmet riot straps were not introduced until the 1980s. In both cases, the normal uniform would not have either of these items showing.
Continuity: As Austin enters the restroom in the Vegas Casino, the door closes twice.
Continuity: The briefcase Number 2 sets on the table when he offers Austin the business proposition is closed in one shot, and appears open and full of money in the next. This is due to a cut scene which is shown after the movie on the video release, but appears as a continuity error in the actual movie.
Continuity: When the fembots are first introduced, one of them has three black dots on her left glove. When she shoots the guards, there are only two.
Anachronisms: When Vanessa briefs the English soldiers they are both holding SLR rifles. This movie is set in the '90s, and by this point in time all British soldiers were issued the SA-80 (or L-85A1) rifle, not the SLR.
Continuity: For most of the movie, Dr. Evil's eyes are blue, but in some shots, they are brown.
Factual errors: When Austin asks Vanessa which side of the bed she wants (upon arriving at the hotel in Vegas) Vanessa replies that the only reason they are sharing a room is to keep up the "context" that they are a married couple. Vanessa should actually have said "pretext." Considering her background/education in languages and her use of English throughout the film - she would not have made this error.
Continuity: During his seduction dance scene of the Fembots, Austin throws cigarettes in each of the Fembots' mouths and keeps one for himself. After several moves, all the cigarettes disappear.
Revealing mistakes: Basil Exposition's mother flinches before Austin starts to throw his punch.
Continuity: When Austin and Vanessa have a glass of champagne in Vanessa's hotel suite, Vanessa is flirting with Austin while holding a champagne glass and drinking from it. One second later, when they drop on the bed, Vanessa's glass is gone without a trace.
Continuity: When Austin jumps on his bed on his plane, he throws off all the pillows but one white one, which disappears in the next shot.
Anachronisms: Austin Powers' personal aircraft is said to have been stored for him when he was frozen in 1967. The aircraft in question is a Boeing 747, which first flew on 9 February 1969 for testing, and wasn't certified for commercial use until 30 December 1969. The first 747 didn't enter commercial service until January 1970.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): As he makes a list of the friends who have died during his cryofreeze, Austin repeats the urban legend that Cass Elliot died chocking on a ham sandwich; she died of a heart attack. While true that Momma Cass died of a heart attack, it was a widely held belief for decades after her death, that she did, in fact, die from choking on a Ham Sandwich. From Austin's perspective, it is likely that he still believed this version of events.
Continuity: When Dr. Evil is threatening the UN, the flag next to the UN secretary changes to an Israeli flag. It changes back in the next shot.
Continuity: At the club, Austin is sitting next to Andy Warhol while he is painting a model's knee. In the next shot, the wide shot of the model and Andy, Austin is nowhere to be seen.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: In the scene were Austin is urinating following his being unfrozen, you can hear the sound effect of him doing so, but there is no stream of urine visible.
Factual errors: While playing BlackJack with Number 2 cards are dealt to Number 2 Austin Powers and the Dealer. Number 2 takes a hit on his 17 after using his eye-patch x-ray to determine that the next card is a 4. Then the dealer deals Austin his second card to show his 5, which he stands on. In BlackJack all players receive their 2 cards and then are allowed to hit or stand, in this instance Number 2 took his hit card before Austin had been dealt his second card.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: After Austin has been unfrozen and is about to meet Vanessa Kensington, he looks at two nurses who help him up. The audio of him saying "Hello, Hellooo." can be heard, but Austin's mouth remains closed.
Continuity: When everyone is gathered around the table in Dr. Evil's secret hideout, Dr. Evil has a purple brain on his plate. When the angle of the shot changes while he is talking to Scott, the purple brain appears and disappears.
Anachronisms: The model 747 shown to be Austin Power's is a 747-400 which wasn't launched until October of 1985, 18 years after Austin was frozen.
Continuity: In the opening musical sequence, supposedly set in London, several of the parked cars seen in the background are clearly US-specification models, revealing the fact that it was shot in America. A Rover 2000 sedan is seen with three scoops on the bonnet/hood (only US-market cars have these) and an MGB GT is seen with extra-large US-spec side marker lights.
Revealing mistakes: While Johnson Ritter is filling Cmdr. Gilmour in on the reappearance of Doctor Evil, shortly after Gilmour says "He's back," his side of the screen flickers and he "jumps" slightly, the result of what seems to be a bad cut or edit.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the last scene in the hotel room while they are on the video conference with Basil, Austin clearly misses the coffee cup when he is pouring the milk, spilling it into the saucer instead.
Factual errors: When Austin breaks into Alotta Fagina's penthouse apartment, he is taking pictures of Virtucon's plans with a miniature Hit camera. It sounds like there is a motor drive advancing the film, but Hit cameras were not so equipped.
Continuity: After Vanessa jumps on the bed, she places the bottle of champagne on the nightstand on her left. After Austin jumps on the bed, the bottle is seen on the nightstand on the right side of the bed.
Revealing mistakes: In the Cryofreeze chamber, they pass by long forgotten celebrities, one of which is labeled "Gary Coleman", even though the frozen celebrity depicted inside the tube is obviously a statue of Jaleel White dressed in his Steve Urkle costume from "Family Matters" (1989).
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When doing an impression of going down the stairs and escalator behind the sofa, he says "I know I will use the elevator". Even though most British people use the word 'lift', it is not uncommon to use the world 'elevator'.
Continuity: During the bathroom drowning scene. Austin is holding the Irish man between his legs, in such a way that Austin would be stuck with his pants wrapped around base of toilet. Immediately after toilet flushes, Austin walks out without having freed himself.
Factual errors: Commander is a naval rank, but Commander Gilmour wears a U.S. Air Force uniform.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Miss Kensington is introduced, Basil calls her one of their "top agents". At the end of the film when Miss Kensington and Austin are in their suite talking to Basil on the phone, Basil congratulates her on being made a "full agent" after her success in the Dr. Evil case.
Revealing mistakes: In the movie commentary Mike Meyers admitted they didn't realize that the band that Austin leads during the musical sequence is an American marching band. These are uncommon in England.
Revealing mistakes: When Random Task throws the shoe at the small bust, its quite obvious that its a rather thin/hollow bust, making it quite easy to break. (They tested this on MythBusters and they easily broke a similar bust using a metal brimmed hat, like OddJob's hat from Goldfinger.)
Continuity: Position of the retractable ramp in the "radioactive sea bass" scene. It couldn't possibly have extended/retracted in the time it apparently takes between scene cuts.
Continuity: When Austin trips the guard in the sea bass chamber. The water is strangely still. In the very next frame showing the water, it is bubbling heavily.
Factual errors: Numerous military individuals' uniforms nametags give their rank and then their last name. Military nametags like this ONLY contain the last name, not the rank - as there are other symbols on their uniform representing rank.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Bolton (the tour guide at Virtucon) states that the company makes volatile chemicals, although Number 2 had stated earlier that Virtucon abandoned this industry in favor of communications.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Dr. Evil claims his mother was a 15-year-old French prostitute, but in the third film claims she was a love slave.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Austin claims for protection he carries a 9MM Automatic, but the gun he is seen using in every scene he uses a gun is actually a .380 Automatic.
Continuity: During the bus top tour scene, the bus passes by a BBQ joint on the right side of the road. A few scenes later they pass by the same BBQ joint on the left side of the road. This is impossible since the bus never made any turns.
