The SENTINEL was a good show...however, it could have been a lot better. The show had something going for it in the sense it catered to the X FILES crowd. One flaw with the show was that the writing staff knew nothing about law enforcement. There was a lack of research and it showed. Often, the stories were far fetched and unbelievable. Also, there were too many gimmick episodes where sports icons appeared as guests. That just doesn't work for me. For this show to thrive and survive it needed to pull in people who flocked to the mystery/police genre and shows like NYPD BLUE. Had they done this and written some hard hitting episodes, this show would have had potential for growth. One thing that did work was the chemistry between the characters and this was the basis for the die hard cult following the program did have. The concept of a police officer using all his sense in the pursuit of justice had so much potential. I mean a lot. There is so much they could have done with this show. Alas, let's file this one under what might have been. :(
