William Faulkner's novel "As I Lay Dying" (1930) features a character named Skeet McGowan (Scream features actors Skeet Ulrich and Rose McGowan) and a character named Dewey just as Scream does.

Goofs:

Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Casey runs into the kitchen after her boyfriend Steve is killed, The smoke alarm sounds like a fire truck siren. Much later, when Casey's Mother and Father come into the kitchen, the smoke alarm is making a "beeping" sound. This because many smoke alarm will do that when the battery gets weak. After whaling the full siren alarm, the battery got weak and the sound changed to the beeping sound.

Leave it to Wes to create a good scare...

This film would have to be the scariest movie I have ever seen. Great acting, highly original plot, and interesting characters. This film also had a great script. Not that lame, typical horror film. This film was unpredictably scary. My friends were covering their eyes, but I wasn't, even though this movie scared the crap out of me! Neve Cambell was surprisingly impressive and I loved her character, Sydney, so strong willed.

If you want a good Friday evening scare with friends, Scream is an excellent rental. I would make some popcorn but put it aside whenever the phone rings in the film because you might end up spilling popcorn all over the place.
