I saw this only because a friend chose it. All I've got to say is, I ought to let my friends pick my movies more often! This movie was engaging and thrilling from beginning to end. The romance between the chef and the princess was sweet, the landscapes were beautiful, and the food looked really yummy!
Pierre Richard's comic relief was the perfect offset to the tragic story of love set against the backdrop of revolution. I love the scene where he's on the opera stage trying to sing his aria and his duel partner keeps shooting him. Absolutely hilarious.
Also, another wonderful detail about this movie was the amazing Georgian a cappella folk music played in nearly every scene. I'm dying to get the soundtrack!
