  • Continuity: The nativity statue that the reindeer knocks into the fireplace disappears in subsequent shots.

  • Continuity: The seats in Howard's GMC Suburban go from fabric seatcovers to leather seats (during the trip to Santa's "workshop") and then back to fabric.

  • Continuity: Set during the winter but filmed during the summer; during a long shot in the parade scene you can see the tops of 2 very green trees down a side street.

  • Continuity: When neighbor Ted Maltin first introduces Howard to the reindeer, Howard extends a bare hand and is almost bitten. However he is really wearing gloves on both hands, before and after the scene.

  • Factual errors: As Howard is leaving his house to find the doll, Ted advises him to put chains on his tires. Tire chains are illegal in Minnesota, where the film is set.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: There are references to radio/TV stations beginning with both "W" and "K" but the Mississippi river flows through the area, and there are stations on both sides.

  • Errors in geography: Mickey's Diner is not in downtown Minneapolis, it's in St. Paul.

  • Factual errors: The shoulder patches on Officer Hummel's coat say "Twin Cities Police Department." The Twin Cities do not have a consolidated police department. He is either an officer with Minneapolis or St. Paul.

  • Errors in geography: KQRS Radio is a Twin Cities radio station, but at the time of the film's release, it was in Golden Valley, a Minneapolis suburb, not in downtown Minneapolis as shown.

  • Continuity: When Miron throws the "bomb" at the radio studio towards Howard, it falls in front of him, next to his head. In the next shot it is off to the side, a foot away.

  • Continuity: Larabee's Dementor cape disappears and reappears between shots when he is kicked in the crotch.

  • Continuity: When Liz is putting the cookies on the cooling rack we see a whole pan. A second later there are only two cookies on the pan.

  • Revealing mistakes: At the beginning of the film when Howard makes an illegal turn to get out of the traffic jam, his driver's side car door is obviously missing, but in the next shot, it is on the car.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Howard first arrives at the Mall of America store for the late Turbo Man dolls, he is going down an escalator. Then, in the next shot, a crowd is shown at a toy store. You can see Howard in the crowd before he even gets there.

  • Continuity: In the beginning of the movie, Howard is in his office, there is a window shot showing daylight. When Howard leaves the office in his truck, just moments later, it is dark outside.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Howard is in the pay-phone booth at the diner, he was supposed to call "555-KQRS." He dials, "555" and then moves his finger to press the number "8" The letter "K" on a telephone is on the number "5."

  • Continuity: When Howard is 'going to work' and Jamie is trying to talk him into staying, at first the cereal bowl has only a little bit of cereal. Then in the next shot, it is almost full again.

  • Factual errors: When Howard runs into Ted and the reindeer, the reindeer's antlers are still in velvet. Velvet is shed in August, at least four months before the Christmas Eve setting.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Howard is breaking into Ted's house he uses a credit card to get in. The camera shows a close up of the lock and door knob from the inside twice, both times you can see that the door is not shut properly.

  • Factual errors: Before Howard tells Jamie that he is "Turboman," a police officer is visible behind Jamie. There is no magazine in the police officer's sidearm.

  • Continuity: Just before Howard rises from the float as Turbo Man, we can see that he has already come out of the float, during a brief shot of the Turbo Man Band marching down the street.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: In the store on Christmas Eve morning, all the customers and salespeople laugh because there are no more TurboMan dolls and they claim that the last doll went with a lady in a fur coat. But, if you look closely, you can see customers holding TurboMan dolls and some on the shelves. However, the boxes they're holding say "TurboMan" on the top to indicate they are associated with the TurboMan toy-line. Boxes containing Booster and Dementor are in similar boxes, so they could very well be in the boxes held by customers at the toy store.

  • Continuity: After the family heads to the Christmas Eve parade with the neighbor and Arnold's character is drinking beer with the reindeer he sees a picture his "son" made of his family pinned on a wall in the playhouse. The picture that is focused on is clearly well drawn, then they move away he gives the reindeer a beer and as Arnold's character heads out, over his right shoulder you can see the actual/different picture drawn by his "son" of the family, which is a completely different drawing.
