Goofs:
Continuity: When Edward Douglas is rescued from the life-raft the shadows in the life-raft seem to indicate a different time than would be indicated by the position of the sun behind the rescuing boat. In fact if, as is implied, he can see the rescuing boat, the sun is in two completely different positions in the sky.

Quotes:
Dr. Moreau:
I have almost achieved perfection you see, of a divine creature that is pure, harmonious, absolutely incapable of any malice. And if in my tinkering I have fallen short of the human form by the snout, claw or hoof, it really is of no great importance. I am closer that you could possibly imagine sir.

H.G. Wells would punch John Frankenheimer right in the mouth if he could see this Godawful adaptation of his novel. Poorly designed and beyond daft, this wastes the interesting premise and settles instead for hammy performances, lousy make-up and Val Kilmer. True, there's a speck of entertainment value to be scraped from Marlon Brando and David Thewlis, although their performances both belong in a different film. Those two aside, there's nothing good to be said about the movie. Any pretence it has to being thought provoking or intelligent dissolves within the first five minutes, and before long the whole thing has descended into an over-baked mess of shoddy CG effects, heavy-handed direction and a near delirious tone. What should have been a dark horror about the dangers and moral implications of genetic engineering is instead well, let's not mince words, it's a piece of shite.
