Columbia Pictures is developing "Pretend Wife," a romantic comedy to star Adam Sandler. Jennifer Aniston is in talks to star opposite Sandler.
Dennis Dugan, Sandler's directing partner on "You Don't Mess with the Zohan," "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," and "Happy Gilmore," is expected to helm.
Sandler's Happy Madison is producing.
Once upon a time, the script by Allan Loeb and Tim Dowling was known as "Holiday in Hawaii." Though the plot is being kept under wraps, we can perhaps conclude that Aniston will play the pretend wife to Sandler, and they will be vacationing in Hawaii!
The Hollywood Reporter told us that Columbia is planning a shoot early next year and eyeing a release on Feb. 11, 2011, the Friday before Valentine's Day.

The ‘Baster’ actress is reportedly in negotiations to star opposite the ‘Happy Gilmore’ actor in romantic comedy ‘The Pretend Wife’ – formerly known as ‘Holiday In Hawaii’ - though plot details are being kept firmly under wraps.
Adam’s long-term collaborator Dennis Dugan is expected to direct the movie, which is scheduled for release in February 2011, while Happy Madison is producing.
Jennifer – who was married to Brad Pitt and dated a host of famous men, including John Mayer and Vince Vaughn – has previously admitted she wants to be more selective in her movie roles because the storylines seem to come true in her personal life.

Columbia is developing the romantic comedy Pretend Wife as a star vehicle for Adam Sandler, and Jennifer Aniston is in talks to play oppsite him.
Dennis Dugan, who has directed Sandler several times before on such films as Happy Gilmore and You Don't Mess With The Zohan is top of the contenders list to direct this new project. Sandler's production company Happy Madison is producing.
The script, written by Allan Loeb and Tim Dowling and once known as Holiday In Hawaii is being kept under wraps. Shooting is scheduled to begin early in 2010 with an eye to release on February 11, 2011, the Friday before Valentine's Day.

Columbia is developing a Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy called Pretend Wife that might be directed by Sandler buddy Dennis Dugan (Happy Gilmore, You Don’t Mess With the Zohan). While the story is being kept under wraps, it’s been written by Allan Loeb and Tim Dowling and it was once known as Holiday in Hawaii. The studio is looking at Feb. 11, 2011 as a release date, which is the Friday before Valentine’s Day.
While Adam Sandler movies are definitely hit or miss, I’m always surprised to see anyone want to pair up with Jennifer Aniston, as she is box office poison. With the exception of Marley & Me, I don’t think any of her movies are considered big hits and none of them have opened well. Of course pairing with Sandler - who can open almost any movie - means it’s not on her opening weekend.

I've narrowed my own "pretend wife" down to a short list of every attractive woman I see, but it sounds like Columbia Pictures is a little more specific in their selection as THR reports that Jennifer Aniston is set to play opposite Adam Sandler in the romantic comedy The Pretend Wife (formerly known as Holiday in Hawaii). Frequent Sandler collaborator, director Dennis Dugan (Happy Gilmore), is the frontrunner to helm this, but the Allan Loeb and Tim Dowling story is being kept under wraps. Initially I thought of a crazy plot involving an imaginary wife, but my bet is Aniston will merely pose as Sandler's wife for some reason.
Nothing is official on the casting or directing front just yet, but with Happy Madison producing and their successful and pleasant relationship with Columbia going strong, it would take quite an upheaval to disrupt the project. As of now the plan

The Hollywood Reporter says Jennifer Aniston is in talks to star opposite Adam Sandler in the romantic comedy Pretend Wife set up at Columbia Pictures. Not a whole lot is known about the project other than it was written by Allan Loeb and Tim Dowling and it might be directed by Dennis Dugan. Dugan directed Sandler in Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, The Benchwarmers, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, You Don't Mess with the Zohan, and the 2010 comedy, Grown Ups.
Jennifer Aniston recently completed work on The Baster which, coincidentally, Allan Loeb wrote and produced. Aniston also has The Bounty, an action comedy co-starring Gerard Butler (Law Abiding Citizen), hitting theaters next year.

We would never want to make light of someone's pain. We just think it's awesome that variations of the phrase "Happy Gilmore shot" were used 14 times in court papers. Props to The Hollywood Reporter's THR, Esq. blog for finding this decision, which explains why a man in Nova Scotia is liable for the serious hand and wrist injury he caused his cousin when he beaned him with his running-start "Happy Gilmore shot" at a booze-laden golf bachelor party in 2002. In Happy Gilmore, Adam Sandler (who plays the title character) uses an unorthodox golf swing in an attempt to win the Tour Championship so that he can win the money needed to save his grandmother's home. While it may be against traditional "golf etiquette", it is actually perfectly legal to use the "Happy Gilmore shot" on the golf course... but you might want to consider the possible civil liability involved.
The Hollywood Reporter's law blog THR Esq. reports on a 2008 case where a man wasfound liable for injuries caused after he drunkenly used the Gilmore swing, which is described by the court as "running from five to ten feet behind the ball and hitting it on the run." Apparently, a Supreme Court judge from Nova Scotia Canada ruled that the swing “breaches a duty of care” meaning the swing presents risks to the players that aren’t natural to the game.

Happy Gilmore was released at about the same that Tiger Woods began to explode onto the golf scene. Woods. youthful style and personality (along with Adam Sandler.s flick, if you ask me) led to a resurgence in the game. Kids wanted to play golf, and not just kids whose parents were millionaires and drank tea with their pinkies up. Real kids. And for many of these kids, the first thing they wanted to try was the Gilmore swing. Well, good thing it didn.t stick because apparently it.s illegal.

A judge in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, Canada, has just ruled that the "Happy Gilmore shot" breaches a duty of care on the golf course.
In the case, the plaintiff sued after the defendant tried to impress his golfing buddies during a bachelor party outing that included beer, tequila and marijuana. On the 16th hole, under the influence, Travis Hayter whipped out his "Happy Gilmore shot," which the court defined in 2008 as "running from five to ten feet behind the ball and hitting it on the run."

I'll be honest: I used to think Adam Sandler was funny. I laughed at his schtick on "Saturday Night Live," loved Billy Madison and even thought Happy Gilmore was pretty funny. But that was just about the end of it. Hasn't been much since that I've been a fan of. Columbia Pictures has released the teaser trailer for the new comedy “Grown Ups.”
Five friends and former teammates reunite years later to honor the passing of their childhood basketball coach. With their wives and kids in tow, they spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend together at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier. Picking up where they left off, they discover why growing older doesn’t mean growing up.
The film reunites Adam Sandler with several of his “Saturday Night Live” co-stars, including David Spade, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and Kevin James. Also stars Salma Hayek, Steve Buscemi, Maria Bello and Gary Busey.
“Grown Ups”, directed by Dennid Dugan – the filmmaker behind of some of Sandler’s earlier films like “Happy Gilmore” and “Big Daddy,” will be in theatres on June 25, 2010.

Adam Sandler's latest movie, Grown Ups, reunites him with several of his Saturday Night Live co-stars, including David Spade, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and Kevin James (filling in for a role that certainly would have gone to Chris Farley had he not passed away). The reunion is fitting, since the movie, which Sandler co-wrote, tells the story of five childhood friends and basketball teammates who reunite 30 years later and spend a weekend together with their families.

Universal Pictures has finally released the first trailer for Leap Year, a movie I have been waiting for awhile and its a romantic comedy about a woman who has an elaborate scheme to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day. I really like the director Anand Tucker, he did a great film called Shopgirl not to mention Simon Beaufoy, Slumdog Millionaire scribe, wrote the script. Oh yeah if you wonder why I have been waiting to see this movie look no more further than Amy Adams. i think she is great and will see anything she is in.

Splinterheads will be opening this weekend at the Regal Arbor Cinema in Austin, TX, Friday, November 13th for a limited and exclusive engagement. Austin is one of three cities selected along with Portland, Oregon, and New York City to run Splinterheads’ theatrical release so far.
Director Brant Sersen, whose previous film Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story won the Audience Award at the 2004 SXSW Film Festival, will be in attendance at the November 13th opening; with leading man Thomas Middleditch possibly joining as well.
Splinterheads premiered at the 2009 SXSW Film Festival. If you were in Austin this past weekend, you may have also seen the Splinterheads dunking booth at Fun Fun Fun Fest.

Adam Sandler has fallen into a relatively diverse career. After his star-making turn on "Saturday Night Live," I've enjoyed his immature comedic stylings in films like Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison, but it's Sandler's performances in Reign Over Me, Punch-Drunk Love (a personal favorite) and recently Funny People which have commanded my respect in showing he can do much more than silly voices and sudden bursts into angry fits of rage. But it looks like Sandler is navigating back into more comedic grounds as Variety announces he will take on twin roles as the twin siblings in the romantic comedy Jack and Jill.
Of course Sandler will be producing under his Happy Madison banner with longtime partner Jack Giarraputo, but no word on who will be directing the script written by Steve Koren (Bruce Almighty) who has worked with Sandler since his days back at "SNL" and on films like Click.

You only have to watch Punch Drunk Love and Funny People to realise that Adam Sandler is capable of great things. We also have a lot of love for Happy Gilmore. But "great things" seem to be on the back burner for now, and in the meantime, here's Jack and Jill.Todd Garner (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Are We There Yet?) is producing, and Saturday Night Live alumnus Steve Koren has written the script, the high concept nugget of comedy gold at the centre of which is that Sandler will play both Jack and his twin sister Jill.Honestly, doesn't that sound like a film that George Simmons might have made? Are Merman and a film where Sandler has an adult's head on a baby's body next? And can Sandler do as great a job as Michael J Fox in Back to the Future 2? All will no doubt be revealed in due course.

An actor playing a set of twins isn't uncommon in comedies and dramas alike (shivers of Jeremy Irons in Dead Ringer overtake me...) but what if it's brother and sister? And what if they're played by Adam Sandler? Funny or damn creepy?
Sadly it ain't a sequel to Happy Gilmore - that would be funny, Sandler playing Happy and his biker-chick sister...- but a comedy pitch called Jack & Jill written by comedian Ben Zook. No idea what it's about so for now...
