"Steel Frontier" is pretty good if all you want is to watch a cheesy, low-budget and trashy action flick. After working all night, I was looking for something that did not require me to use my brain, and this movie fitted the bill. It is an entertaining mixture of western clichés and post-Apocalyptic shenanigans. In the near future, a small town is terrorized by a military group that has managed to control most of what is left after the big "boom". However, the nasty guys do not count on the arrival of a mysterious stranger who soon takes over the underground resistance against the intruders. There is plenty of action and violence here. The unintentional humor and noisy pyrotechnics kept me entertained. Leading man Joe Lara cannot act but he has screen presence, but Bo Svenson supplies biggest surprise as a three dimensional bad guy. Svenson is a nice contrast to Brion James' over the top main villain. This is a PM Entertainment production, so you know there is nothing here that resembles a good movie. If not for too many scenes stolen from the "Mad Max" movies, this could have been a great guilty pleasure. But it is too derivative. Still, not too bad, if all you want is to relax for a few hours.
