At the time, Shoji Kawamori had no interest in doing any more followups to SDF Macross, although Big West and Bandai pressed him to. In the end, they decided to do it themselves. Studio Nue was not involved, and of the original staff, only Haruhiko Mikimoto (the character designer) and one of the original screenwriters actually signed onto the project. more

ok, here we go. you have an alien singer, a miltiary stricken female hot shot pilot, and a tv news reporter who's shy. can you say, robotech? this movie is the macross series from robotech with a new conflict. i thought the battle scenes were cool, but that's about it. and the dubbed singing?? ugh!!! SUBTITLED FOR LIFE!!!
