Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, is by no means superior to the original Ace Ventura. The general story is nothing to write home about, but the movie, on the whole, is saved by Jim Carrey's flexible face, and his unruly behavior.
This time he is sent to Africa to recover a sacred bat that has mysteriously vanished. There are plenty of funny scenes many movie critics would call "gags." In the process of retrieving the Great White Bat, Ace participates in a disgusting (but amusing) spitting contest, masturbates in a tent, grapples with an alligator, and falls out of a giant mechanical Rhinoceros, (while in cognito) and devastates a nearby family. Folks, what more could you ask for?
Yes, I know. Many of these situations sound ridiculous. And yes, they most certainly are. And had anybody else played Ace then Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls would be a disaster instead of an entertaining sequel.
