"The Politician's Wife" isn't for those interested in safe political thrillers. It is a very sad film, often entertaining, and quite prophetic. The real brilliance of this picture is that by limiting itself, it can be perfect at what it does. There is no room for extraneous subplots, only the basic, powerful story.
The director, Graham Theakston, does a quite good job, even though he has had virtually no success is other films. The angles are well chosen, and the performances perfectly captured. And what performances they are! Juliet Stevenson is fantastic to watch, and truly earns her praise. I highly recommend "The Politician's Wife", but be warned that some might not appreciate the subject matter or brief nudity.
