  • Continuity: When the plane leaves Bangor, the captain raises the landing gear. In a subsequent shot, they are down again.

  • Continuity: The distance from the plane to the terminal decreases for one shot.

  • Continuity: Laurel claims that Los Angeles is deserted, yet cars can be seen moving.

  • Factual errors: Attempting to steer an airplane moving along the ground at more than 100 knots will cause the landing gear to be destroyed.

  • Factual errors: When the plane is flying towards LAX, the flight computer graphic has the plane flying towards Bangor.

  • Continuity: Both times when the plan lands (Bangor and LAX) there are brief shots where the lettering on the plane appears as a mirror image.

  • Continuity: When landing in Bangor, Bethany is (not) wearing her vest.

  • Continuity: In the first half, as the plane is coming into land at Bangor, the pilot can be seen head on with no headset. However, the rear shot shows the pilot wearing the headset.

  • Continuity: Amount of clouds in the sky after the landing in Bangor.

  • Continuity: When the plane is flying over the supposedly lifeless Maine landscape, a herd of cows can be seen grazing on a hillside.

  • Continuity: Bangor Airport is supposedly deserted, yet in one brief shot another plane is visible.

  • Continuity: At the end of the film when the travelers are waiting to catch up with time at LAX a woman in a black t-shirt wearing a backpack and baseball cap walks by twice going the same direction.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Jenkins looks at the battery powered clock in the Bangor airport, he opens the battery compartment. The batteries are supposed to be installed in alternating directions. However, the first three batteries are installed wrong, since they are all facing the same way. This was apparently to give the clock the appearance of having been frozen in time even though there were batteries installed.

  • Continuity: When the survivor landed LAX, Brian is wearing headset. At the next shot, he is not wearing it. Finally before crashing the plane, he is wearing the headset again without putting it back.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the survivors are waiting in LAX for time to catch up, there is a shot where you they are standing in front of the windows of the terminal. People can clearly be seen walking around in the next terminal through the windows behind them.

  • Continuity: Nothing is supposed to have power, but there are working flood lights on the exterior shots of the Bangor terminal.

  • Factual errors: During his landing at LAX, the pilot repeatedly veers the aircraft using the yoke. However, aircraft are not controlled on the ground using the yoke, but by the small hand tiller he is seen using while taxiing at Bangor.

  • Factual errors: When initially investigating the missing people and the condition of the airplane, Brian looks at a screen that gives the airplane's transponder code (or "squawk") as 7777. An airliner would never be squawking that code, since this particular code is reserved for military interceptor operations.

  • Revealing mistakes: After Craig Toomey is hit for the third time by Albert and his toaster weapon you can see the reflection of a baggage car drive by in the window, even though the ten people are supposed to be the only people there

  • Continuity: According to the P.A. announcement, Flight 29 is said to leave from Gate 51. However, in a subsequent shot, it leaves from Gate 53.

  • Continuity: After being told his ex-wife passed away, Captain Engle and his colleague leave the plane from Gate 54, but in the next shot, the same gate is clearly marked 51.

  • Factual errors: The Lockheed L-1011 aircraft family has three engines for power. In all shots showing the throttles in the cockpit, only a two engine panel is shown.

  • Factual errors: In cruise flight, the camera zooms in on main panel. The indicated airspeed reads zero.

  • Factual errors: On takeoff, while the plane is lifting off the ground, the attitude indicator shows that the aircraft is pointing down and lifting to straight flight.

  • Revealing mistakes: The bullet casings in the gun Toomey finds are clearly spent when he checks them.

  • Continuity: In the different outside views of the aircraft shots, the aircraft changes back and forth between an L1011 and a DC-10. Difference is mainly the body width and the rear engine setup.

  • Continuity: When the airplane is taking off from Bangor, the camera shows the gear being pulled up. The camera then switches to another scene, then shows the airplane again with the gear down and locked.

  • Factual errors: When the plane takes off in a steep climb to escape the creatures, the scene in the cockpit reflects a steep climb, while scenes in the passenger cabin shows a dive or descent.

  • Crew or equipment visible: The crew members can be seen moving in the background inside the Bangor airport.

  • Factual errors: Once the Langoliers have eaten all the land of the Earth-from-the-Past, the atmosphere would in fact dissipate from lack of gravity and the airplane would no longer function normally.

  • Continuity: The ridge with the high-tension power lines changes position in some parts of the movie. Also, in one shot, the power lines are missing, and when the people are helping carry Dynah (in the stretcher) onto the plane, the ridge has disappeared altogether.

  • Continuity: Laurel and Dinah position keeps changing as they are getting closer to Bangor, from sitting in the middle seats to being in the window sets then back and again. Also they change from Dinah being on the left of Laural and vice-versa.

  • Continuity: As the plane takes off at Bangor to return to LAX you can clearly see the landing gear being raised, the second shot of the plane shows the landing gear to be completely down.

  • Continuity: When Brian descend the airplane to broke the cloud to see the ocean, he is wearing his headset. But when the camera is behind his head, he is not wearing the headset. Again, when the camera is face Brian, he wearing his headset.

  • Factual errors: When the captain is taking off from Bangor, the indicator reads "Minimum takeoff speed 150 mph". This is wrong in two ways. First, in aviation, all speeds are in knots. Second, there is not only one takeoff speed, there are three: engine out safety speed (V1), speed of rotation (Vr) and climb safety speed (V2).

  • Continuity: Right before landed into LAX, we see the Albert sit in the right side of the plane. But when the plane turning, we see Albert in the left side of the plane.

  • Continuity: in the scene where Dinah has been stabbed by Toomey they show a shot of her laying on the floor with Laurel putting pressure on the girls chest, they show Dinah as wearing all pink clothing, they go to a different scene and when they come back Dinah is in all green colored clothes, same style as before but a different color.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): After Dinah has been stabbed, Bethany runs into the plane saying "TOM, you've got to come". Only Brian, Nick, Albert and Bob are on board.
