Dan Gordon Attached To The King Of Sting

1 July 2009 12:00 AM, PDT | ShockYa | See recent ShockYa news »

Dan Gordon, the screenwriter behind “The Hurricane” starring Denzel Washington and “Wyatt Earp” starring Kevin Costner, has been attached to write the upcoming “The King of Sting.” Based on the con man Craig Glazer’s autobiography of the same name, the story follows Glazer’s 20 years as a con man, posting as an undercover narcotics policeman and pocketing the money he’d seize at his “arrests”. Glazer and his partner were eventually hired by the Kansas City Police Department to conduct real stings after their arrest, they were so effective. So far no other information about the project has been released. Gordon has also worked on the Broadway hit “Irena’s Vow,” and the [...] »

Dan Gordon to write "The King of Sting"

30 June 2009 | Movie Jungle | See recent Movie Jungle news »

Dan Gordon, veteran writer with credits like "Passenger 57," "Gulag" and "Wyatt Earp," will write the screenplay for the drama "The King of Sting." Film would focus on the life of con man Craig Glazer and is based on a book he wrote. The story tells of the writer's twenty year run where he posed as an undercover narcotics agent and pocketed money from stings. Apparently, Glazer and his partner were so good at conning victims that the Kansas City Police Department actually hired them to conduct real stings. Eric Eisner is producing the project via his L+E Prods. banner »

Sam Worthington And Gemma Arterton In Clash Of The Titans

16 June 2009 7:25 AM, PDT | The Cinema Post | See recent The Cinema Post news »

These three brand new images from the upcoming “Clash Of The Titans” featuring Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton, and I have to say that they are pretty cool. Sam Worthington looks very much the part, and Gemma Arterton looks beautiful as “Io”.

Now we’d just like a look at Liam Neeson and Alexa Davalos, and then we’d be set. Rounding off the cast of Louis Leterrier’s remake are Jason Flemyng, Mads Mikkelsen, Ralph Fiennes, Izabella Miko and Danny Huston. Four time Oscar nominee Lawrence Kasdan (”Empire Strikes Back”, “Raiders of The Lost Ark”, “The Bodyguard”, “Wyatt Earp”) wrote the screenplay.

Synopsis: Helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld, Perseus (Worthington) volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus »

'Celebrity Rehab' Next Stop on Tom Sizemore's Sad Career Descent

2 June 2009 9:03 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

In the case of most reality-show stars, it's obvious that they've found their level. Humiliating themselves on TV is the only way they'll ever be famous, and they're all too happy to dance like monkeys for a shot at celebrity.

In some cases, however, it's simply a sad, last rest stop between fame and obscurity. In the case of Tom Sizemore, who starred in a painfully raw six-episode VH1 show called Shooting Sizemore and has signed on for the new season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, it hurts to watch the decline of a genuinely talented performer.

Some actors, you remember the first time you saw them. But it's not like that with Sizemore. For me, it's like he was just suddenly always there. In the 1990s, he was a sort of a poor man's Tommy Lee Jones, except with his own distinct, streetwise edge -- where Tommy Lee »

Movie News Wrap Up: May 25, 2009

25 May 2009 12:34 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

This week:

Ben Stiller has no time for Salvation at the box office; George Clooney is a Private Gentleman; Lyndsy Fonseca gets into the Hot Tub Time Machine; Milla Jovovich throws a Stone; Ridley Scott looks for a younger Robin Hood and Kevin Costner makes a western - I’m not kidding.

Box Office

It looks like Ben Stiller is going to stay bankable in family films. Night at the Museum 2: Battle Of The Smithsonian should bank an impressive $70 million over the four day weekend. Does that mean that they’ll inflict a third movie on us? Probably.

Terminator: Salvation will shoot up about $62 million over the long weekend. Not exactly the box office superstar they were hoping it would be.

Angels and Demons and Star Trek should both manage about $28 million over the weekend. Star Trek has blown past Wolverine in U.S. ticket sales despite having opened »

Costner Plans Period TV Series

12 May 2009 3:00 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Hollywood star Kevin Costner is in talks to produce a new TV mini-series about post-Civil War America.

The Oscar-winning history buff plans to direct and star in episodes of the series, which will study settlement in the western U.S. states.

Costner has already tackled the wild west in hit movies Wyatt Earp and Dances with Wolves.

A spokeswoman for America's A&E Network, which hopes to air the new Costner series, says, "He (Costner) understands the western (film) better than anybody, and he respects the genre. He knows every bit of detail about the west; this is a genre he feels a lot of passion for. It's a perfect fit." »

Is 'Irena's Vow' the next Holocaust awards champ?

13 March 2009 10:57 AM, PDT | Gold Derby | See recent Gold Derby news »

Now that "The Reader" has proved the continued strength of Holocaust films in the awards derby, reaping an overdue Oscar for Kate Winslet plus nominations for best picture, director, screenplay and cinematography, there should be keen interest in "Irena's Vow." The Broadway play, which opens March 29, has already been optioned for a feature film and shows strong potential, just like "The Reader," in the lead actress race.

"Irena's Vow" is based upon the real-life experiences of Irena Gut Opdyke, a Polish Catholic who saved 12 Jews from extermination by hiding them in the basement of a Nazi officer's villa. The Broadway production at the Walter Kerr could finally earn theater veteran Tovah Feldshuh her first Tony Award after four losses: "Golda's Balcony" (lead actress in a play, 2004), "Lend Me a Tenor" (featured actress in a play, 1989), "Sarava" (lead actress in a musical, 1979), "Yentl" (lead actress in a play, 1976).

Feldshuh is known primarily as a stage actress, »
