Trivia:
If the fight in Fukuoka, Godzilla and Moguera do make physical contact when Moguera uses the drill on it's head to drill into Spacegodzilla's collar before Godzilla arrives on the scene. Godzilla makes contact a few times, one of the times is when he bites Spacegodzilla's neck and steels some of the power Spacegodzilla was drawing from the crystals. moreFAQ

Coming after four good Godzilla movies, two of them great {Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah,Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla}and two of them almost great{Godzilla Vs Biollante,Godzilla Vs Mothra},Godzilla Vs Spacegodzilla is definitely a disappointment. It's easy to see why it has such a bad reputation among fans, but it's not a bad movie on it's own and certainly better than, say,Godzilla 2000 or Godzila 1984.
Made with a slightly different crew to the previous few film, the film therefore has a different feel, and emphasises the humans more than the monsters this time. Characterisations and performances are generally good, and it's great to see Miki, who had appeared in all the Heisei films except Godzilla 1984,get some development. However, there is a distinct lack of interest in the monster scenes, with some very shoddy effects work {such as when Spacegodzilla is in space}and a lengthy final battle which is amazingly static and dull. Little Godzilla looks pathetic here, but Spacegodzilla is generally an impressive looking adversary. The huge robot Moguera {first used in The Mysterians}is OK but serves little function in the story, which suffers from all-too-obvious edits {apparently 20 mins or so were cut}.
With a not bad but not loud enough western-style score by Takayoki Hattori,Godzilla Vs Spacegodzilla has enough entertainment value to overlook it's many flaws, and overall is an underrated Godzilla film.
