Doc Holliday Film

The best thing about Tombstone for a lot of movie fans was Val Kilmer's portrayal of Doc Holliday.
That being said, Paramount has bought the spec script to The Further Adventures Of Doc Holliday penned by Chad St. John. It's probably safe to say that there's a slim chance that Kilmer will reprise his role for the film. Reason being, well, I don't really need to point it out. The adventures of the gambling dentist will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers).

Paramount to Develop a History-Based Action Adventure Called The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday

Paramount Pictures has picked up an interesting action-adventure spec The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday from Chad St. John and plans to adapt into a Western-style tentpole in the vein of Pirates of the Caribbean.
The studio is keeping the plot under wraps, but the story is described as a history-based action adventure tale in the vein of Pirates. Holliday is the famously tuberculosis-ridden gunfighter best known for his friendship with Western lawman Wyatt Earp and for his role in 1881’s Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Ariz.
His most beloved portrayal is from Val Kilmer in the 1993 film Tombstone. Holliday is a great character for this type of idea but I just worry people will be hard pressed to rally around him due to the love of Val Kilmer’s portrayal. I can see though a studio casting someone like Robert Downey Jr. in the role.

Paramount Wants More ‘Doc Holliday’

I’m usually not much for one actor having ownership over a role that’s based on real life figures or one that has had a long lifespan in multiple mediums. As great as Heath Ledger’s Joker is, Jack Nicholson’s interpretation is just as valid, as is Cesar Romero’s.
But here’s the thing: nobody will ever play gunslinger Doc Holliday better than Val Kilmer did in Tombstone. It’s a fact of life, inescapable.
But Paramount doesn’t think so, having just purchased a spec script entitled The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday by Chad St. John. Paramount is apparently looking for another Transformers-esque tentpole film to be spearheaded by producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
It’s likely that Adventures won’t be grounded in reality, as they’re aiming for something more like Pirates of the Caribbean than Tombstone. Variety calls it a “history-based action adventure tale.

Not a fan of westerns? Paramount wants to change your mind. The studio has acquired (via Variety) Chad St. John's spec script The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday in hopes of turning it into a western style tentpole action adventure movie. As in, a big budget, western "event" movie. Another one of Chad St. John's scripts ended up on this year's Black List in the #10 spot. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, of Transformers and G.I. Joe, is producing the project, which is described as a history-based adventure tale in the vein of Pirates of the Caribbean. Can you imagine seeing epic old western gunfights on an epic scale? Oh hell yes!
Doc Holliday was a famously tuberculosis-ridden gunfighter best known for his friendship with Wyatt Earp and for his involvement in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona in 1881. In an 1896 article, Wyatt Earp had this to

Paramount Pictures is developing "Sergeant Rock" and "Outland" scribe Chad St. John's action adventure spec script "The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday" reports Variety.
The "Pirates of the Caribbean"-esque history-based action adventure will follow the tuberculosis-ridden gunfighter who formed a strong friendship with Western lawman Wyatt Earp.
Val Kilmer memorably played him in 1993's "Tombstone" and a year later Dennis Quaid starred as Holliday in Kevin Costner's "Wyatt Earp". Lorenzo di Bonaventura ("Transformers") is onboard to produce.

Like a zombie that just won't stay down, the Western is looking to make another return. Paramount is betting that it can revive the genre as a Pirates Of The Caribbean-style tentpole franchise thanks to an action adventure pitch called The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday. There are no plot details yet, but with that name in the title, you know it will involve the legendary, tuberculosis-ridden gunslinger John Henry "Doc" Holliday, a man still best known for his friendship with fellow bullet-flinger Wyatt Earp and his involvement in the Gunfight at the Ok Corral. Many of you might also remember him from the likes of 1993's Tombstone, where Val Kilmer played him with typically quirky flare, or when Dennis Quaid took on the role in the following year's Wyatt Earp. He's certainly a juicy character for any Johnny Depp-alike character actor looking to make a studio breakthrough, and with Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing,

Paramount Pictures has picked up the action-adventure spec "The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday" from Chad St. John, with plans to adapt the project into a Western-style tentpole akin to 'Pirates of the Caribbean'.
The character is historically interesting, and has also been a great source of drama in the past, perhaps most recently as personified by Val Kilmer in 1993's Tomstone. Holliday developed a reputation as a 'gentleman criminal', yet corroboration of his wrongdoings was never apparent; falling into the category of hearsay only.
Hollywood's love affair with the Western has been on again, off

Exclusive Interview: Stephen Lang (Avatar) - Part I

Stephen Lang is one of those actors: You may not know his name, but you know his face, his voice and, most importantly, you don't easily forget his remarkable performances. Long before Jack Nicholson played Col. Nathan Jessup in the big-screen version of A Few Good Men (1992), Lang originated the role on Broadway. And his film and television credits include Manhunter (1986), Crime Story (TV), Tombstone (1993), the 2001 TV series edition of The Fugitive (he was the one-armed man), The Bronx Is Burning (2007), and more. And he's having a hell of a 2009, with roles in The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009), Public Enemies (2009) and now, the film that may finally help people match a name to that face and voice, James Cameron's sci-fi epic, Avatar (2009). Set for release on Dec. 18, Avatar is a big-budget, high-tech spectacle in which humans threaten the homeworld of the indigenous population, the Na'vi, on a moon called Pandora.

Nicolas Cage Interview Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans

Remember when you thought Nicolas Cage was one of the best actors in the business. When he made films like Leaving Las Vegas, Raising Arizona, Vampire’s Kiss, and Face/Off (and I don’t want to hear he wasn’t great in Face/Off, cause he was). Well, I’m happy to report the amazing Nicolas Cage is back and he can be seen in Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, which opens in limited release this weekend. While I was one of the people that wondered if Cage and Werner Herzog could do justice to the Bad Lieutenant name, I really shouldn’t have been worried, as Bad Lieutenant is an awesome movie and something that you should go see in a crowded theater this weekend. Also, Cage hasn’t been this good in years.
So to help promote the film, I recently attended a press conference with Cage.

Cage Can't Wait To Work With Pen-pal Kilmer Again

Nicolas Cage is lining up a new movie with longtime pen-pal Val Kilmer after the two stars briefly teamed up on the set of Bad Lieutenant.
The Con Air star reveals he and Kilmer have been fans of each other's work for years - often writing to offer praise for a job well done in a movie.
And Cage was thrilled when he learned he'd be working with Kilmer in his new film - but they never got enough screen time together.
He tells WENN, "We used to correspond with one another. I used to write letters telling him I appreciated his work in Tombstone and then he would return the compliment with other things that I had done.
"I always felt that Val was, along with Robert Downey, Jr., something of a genius, so I had hoped we would work together. There wasn't enough for us to do together in this movie, so I'm looking forward to doing something else with him at some point."

Chriqui and Kilmer Join War Film

Here’s a recipe for … well, I’m not sure what dish this will make, but it’ll certainly be interesting: Emmanuelle Chriqui, a recurring actor on Entourage, and Val Kilmer (Tombstone) have joined forces with director Renny Harlin for the leading roles in Georgia, Harlin’s new war film.
According to THR, the film centers around “an American journalist (Kilmer) and his cameraman caught in the crossfire of covering last year’s military conflict between Russia and Georgia … [as well as] a Georgia native (Chriqui) and doctoral student who becomes entangled with them.”
While this certainly doesn’t represent Harlin’s average action fare, I’m not entirely convinced that the man has ever made a good film in his life. When the closest you come to a good film is the lackluster Die Hard 2 or the redeemably cheesy Deep Blue Sea, you know your track record is somewhat worse for the wear.

The Great Emancipator Set for the Silver Screen

Apart from Henry King’s “Wilson” and Oliver Stone’s “Nixon” and “W.”, it’s hard to recall very many notable films based on presidents, both living and former. It’s difficult to see why. As English Bob might have said in “Unforgiven”, no one is traumatized by the sight of a president, much less one seen on screen (Helen Mirren’s portrayal in “The Queen”, however, might have been apocryphal in retrospect had it not been so good).
Now, in the spirit of “Tombstone” and “Wyatt Earp”, Variety reports that Steven Spielberg and Robert Redford are set to direct dueling Lincoln films. It seems strange to release both of them now, so close together, but Redford’s vision should prove to be quite different: “Lincoln as a subject is inexhaustible,” as Spielberg said.
“The Conspirator”, as Redford’s version is called, will star James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn

Welcome back, my fellow burned spies and trigger happy ex-girlfriends. Did you miss me? I missed you! This week, Michael and Sam sit in Mike’s car while they watch planes take off and land. Wow, that sounds like a blast! Michael’s voice-over complains about how all of his former confidants and handlers don’t take his calls anymore since he was burned. They won’t even follow him on Twitter. How sad. The goal of all this flight watching is to track down an agent that can’t avoid him. Sam and Mike, after an entertaining montage of stake out, finally track down a covert-ops supply plane. They’ve been in that car for a while, and I bet they smell.
Back at his loft, hopefully after a shower, Michael is taking an exacto-knife to a fake ID of some kind when Fi storms in, dressed in a bikini and a negligee.
