Today is Friday the 13th, the unluckiest day of the year! That gives me an excuse to indulge in one of my favorite pasttimes as an amateur "Friday the 13th" historian. I can't remember when my obsession with the adventures of Jason Voorhees really began, but I do know that I've studied this series from top to bottom multiple times.
Perhaps you're new to the "Friday" game and need some guidance. The natural urge would be to start from the beginning, but that would be a mistake that would result in sadness and nausea. Since the continuity between movies doesn't matter in the slightest, it's best to take them out of order. But where to start? Glad you asked. Here are the 12 "Friday the 13th" films, ranked in order of greatness from truly excellent to whatever "Jason Goes to Hell" is. Stay lucky!

Thanks for reading my “Vs” series of articles over the last 3-4 days. I took on Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger and i feel slightly disturbed afer seeing so much blood, gore and murder.
After 29 films, over 43 hours of horror, over 600 gallons of blood, over 270 slaughtered people shared between three iconic horror movie icons, here is the verdict of who is the champion slasher.
Firstly all three characters have provided me with an incredibly fun experience as i have not seen all the films before and watching them in sequence has added more enjoyment and also annoyance in seeing how the characters develop, how the stories evolve and how the mythology of each character has grown.
A consistent factor of all three characters is that their stories all followed a complete nonsense storyline linking one sequel to the next that tried to add something new each time which

Halloween Special Part 1: Jason Voorhees vs Me

To bring us into Halloween I thought I would do a daring deed and take on Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger in a no holds bared face off (literally) where I have watched the entire back catalogue of their films to determine once and for all who is champion slasher
The three killers have haunted us through our childhoods with each horror legend bringing us movies which have completely terrified and equally bemused us with poor sequels and terrible plots
Beware pictures of blood, gore, slight nudity and terrible acting to follow.
I begin with Part one of the Halloween Special and start with Friday the 13th and Jason Voorhees, one of the most iconic horror villains of all time sporting the classic hockey mask and machete, Jason Voorhees has become a vastly popular member of the horror circle and would be up there with Dracula, Frankstein’s

Freddy’s at it again. There’s no surprise there as the real world doesn’t understand that he basically exists in both worlds, yet if you try to throw a punch at his face, you’re not likely going to hit him. And if you do, you might break his jaw or peel some burnt flesh off his cheek, but a minute later after unleashing a humorous quip, he’ll laugh it off and slice you for the trouble. That’s our beloved Freddy Krueger though. No matter how bad you think you are... he’s badder.

The next movie in the Friday The 13th series has received an official release date, and yes…you’ve guessed it! It will be on Friday 13th August 2010!
The last film, released in cinemas earlier this year topped the Us box office during its first weekend with $42m (£26m) in ticket sales.
The sequel will be titled simply Friday The 13th Part 2. It’s said to be a big landmark for the franchise, because it’s actually the 13th film in the series ever to be made.
In the last movie, five teens – Wade, Ritchie, Amanda, Mike and Whitney travel to Camp Crystal Lake on the hunt for marijuana where the group is brutally murdered by Jason Voorhees. Six weeks later, Whitney’s brother Clay goes to Crystal Lake searching for his missing sister, distributing flyers with Whitney’s picture on it to the locals. Clay eventually discovers the

Now It Can Be Told: Today at Paramount's DVD luncheon commemorating the release of Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood and Part VII: Jason Takes Manhattan, actor Kane Hodder, who played Jason Voorhees in both films, made a surprising revelation about the trailer for Jason Takes Manhattan, a perennial favorite among fans of the series. "This is the first time I've ever said it: that's not me," he announced. "We were shooting in Vancouver, that was done on the Jersey side of Manhattan, and I don't know who it is."
Hodder was first cast in The New Blood and stayed with the series for four installments, including the two New Line iterations Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X. Hodder said that not only was he not the hockey-mask-wearing manic in question when that teaser was shot, but he didn't feel like the actual performer played the character accurately.

Careening Towards 'The Final Destination' In Photos

"The Final Destination" is out today. The title implies that this is it for the series, now four strong, though horror titles have a tendency to be misleading. "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday" and "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" are certainly the worst offenders, but there are others. Our very own John Constantine proved today that there are still plenty of ideas left to mine for the franchise.
Here we have a pair of image galleries for your viewing enjoyment. First up is a set of film stills, in which you'll see an assortment of young, beautiful people looking scared for their lives. With good cause too. After the jump, you'll see those same beautiful people smiling radiantly on the red carpet of the "Final Destination" premiere. We’re geeks for subtitles at totalfilm.com. Sometimes, film companies get them spectacularly right – watch Jason Goes To Hell with the subs on and it improves the experience ten-fold. But sometimes they go hideously wrong. Icons Of Fright have noticed that there’s a huge disparity between the quality of the Let The Right In theatrical subtitles and the Us DVD subs, sometimes to a hilarious degree. We’ve collected and explained the worst offenders. Let’s hope they get changed before the UK DVD release. Be...

Several months back, we reported that Rosebud & Twisted Pictures were producing 4 new remakes of classic Rko pictures. Now, the first of the bunch has landed a director. Adam Marcus, the director of Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday will direct I Walked With A Zombie from a script he co-wrote with Debra Sullivan according to Variety. "Adam and Deborah have created a chilling screenplay that along with Adam's vision would make Lewton proud," Fickman told Variety.
The article continues, "The film focuses on a private tutor who discovers a terrifying family secret while working at the ancient estate of a New Orleans businessman. The original was a forerunner of the corps of walking corpse films that followed. Hartley called the film one of the most valuable in the Rko library. Variety reports that Adam Marcus, who helmed Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, has been attached to the remake of I Walked With A Zombie. The 1943 Rko classic, produced by Val Lewton and directed by Jacques Tourneur, is being updated by the new Rko’s Roseblood Movie Co. and Twisted Pictures, which has produced the Saw series among others.
Marcus also scripted the new Zombie with Debra Sullivan; the story is set on a New Orleans estate where a private tutor discovers a family secret involving voodoo. Overseeing the project is busy Andy Fickman (see item here), who’s also supervising revisitations of Lewton’s The Body Snatcher, Bedlam and Five Came Back. “Adam and Deborah have created a chilling screenplay that along with Adam’s vision would make Lewton proud,” Fickman tells the trade.

Adam Marcus, director of the underrated, if erroneously titled, Friday The 13th sequel, Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, is finally making a return to horror after over fifteen years away. The 40 year-old director has signed on to direct the remake of Rko’s cult classic, I Walked With A Zombie.Directed by Jacques Tourneur and produced by Val Lewton in 1943, the original was a creepy, eerie affair that isn’t a typical zombie film, at least, not in the way that we understand the term now. There are no flesh-eating ghouls here – just a dark and macabre tale involving a Caribbean island, voodoo, and a patient stricken by an apparent illness which seems to involve zombie-like symptoms. The original was also only 69 minutes long, so there’s plenty of room for Marcus’ remake to expand, and hopefully, improve upon what’s gone before.Indeed, he’s already begun,

Friday The 13th: Body counts, boobies and bloody good quotes

Well, it’s been seven years since Jason Voorhees chopped up foolish teens exclusively. Sure he shared screen time with Freddy Krueger in 2003’s crossover Freddy Vs Jason, yes he accumulated quite the body count in the film, yes it was a lot of fun, and yes the film was pretty damn successful, but diehard fans such as myself certainly missed that special “alone time” with Mr. Voorhees. Now Jason is back, solely stealing the spotlight and the lives of reckless youngins, and despite a mostly negative critical response and dismal box office staying power, he's still one massive murdering machine.
Over the last 29 years Jason has claimed more victims than even imaginable. From random teens, to strange drifters, to diner employees, Jason has eliminated just about everyone to (unluckily) grace the big screen with the masked menace. As a result of Voorhees’ obnoxious kill rate, fans have pondered the
