Trivia:
The first Hong Kong action film to use synchronized sound. However, on the 2009 region-1 DVD released by Dragon Dynasty/The Weinstein Company, when Jackie Chan discusses this in an interview, the subtitles transcribe the audio incorrectly. moreGoofs:
Continuity: When the copter carries Kevin over the locomotive's stack, soot from the black smoke smudges the back of his light-coloured trousers. In later shots, the soot is not there. Also, the stack gasses from an operating locomotive would be so hot that he would probably be badly burnt/scalded. moreQuotes:
Chan Ka Kui: [after breaking Panther out of prison] Okay, now down that road is a small village that leads to a town.Panther: Okay.
Chan Ka Kui: [prepares to leave] Good luck.
Panther: [puzzled] Where you going?
Chan Ka Kui: Huh? They payed me $2,000 to get you out of there. The rest doesn't interest me.
Panther: Listen, I like you. You're a good man, and I could use someone like you. I'll take you to Hong Kong for something big.
Chan Ka Kui: [shakes head] Hong Kong's too far, forget it. Just give me $500 more.
Panther: Here I haven't any money. But in Hong Kong, I've got millions - millions! I'll give you $100,000 when we get there. It's a deal?

If you like Jackie Chan, then you'll like this movie.
I adore Jackie Chan, think he's the best of all the kung fu type fighters, also like his humor, and think he's cute as a button besides. Jackie looks great and does terrific work in this film - doing stunts that scared the wits out of me. I'm always so afraid he'll get hurt, as he has on occasion.
Jackie goes undercover to infiltrate a drug cartel, firstly getting involved in an exciting escape from a labor camp by the drug cartel villain.
Later, Jackie is pretending he's from a village where he's never even been. I found that part highly humorous as Jackie narrows dodges giving himself away, and an older male cop in drag plays his Mom.
At the village, he teams up with an undercover policewoman, who is pretending to be his sister, a woman who turns out to be ever bit as tough as Jackie. She can definitely handle herself.
There are some delicious villains in the film. One called Panther reminded me of a Chinese James Coburn.
Jackie has added problems when his girlfriend shows up and sees him with the undercover female cop.
Yes, Jackie actually has a little romance in this one. Not all that much, just a few kisses between him and the girlfriend. He's so handsome I certainly wish he DID do more romantic comedy style films, but understand why he doesn't.
Lots of fast action, foot fighting, narrow escapes and explosions. The film is fast paced. The plot is adequate for what's needed, and its fun to watch.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give a good 9.
