Is Posing Nude Ever a Good Idea for Famous Guys?

11 November 2009 5:40 PM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

What could Levi Johnston possibly gain by posing naked for Playgirl? —Babs G., via the Answer B!tch inbox You mean besides money and the eternal high that comes with making Sarah Palin miserable? As the Jews might say, dayenu, that would have been enough. For women, there are tons of reasons for posing nude: Sharon Stone said she did it for money right after appearing in Total Recall. It sure didn't hurt, given that she later went on to do stuff like Basic Instinct and Casino. We won't even begin to discuss the ongoing successes of The Girls Next Door. But when it comes to guys who pose in adult mags, there are, generally, only two types: (1) Unknowns who, if the ploy works, graduate... »

Review: iTunes 99p Rental – Fatal Instinct

11 November 2009 1:34 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Last week, presumably due to a technical error, there was no 99p rental on iTunes. Now i’ll be honest, based on the suspect selections of recent weeks, it was nice to get a week off. I also considered the possibility that Apple had maybe decided to stop it altogether.

I thought that would be a great shame. Then it came back this week, and i had to watch Carl Reiner’s Fatal Instinct

Ned (Armand Assante) is a police officer, and a lawyer. He believes greatly in the justice system, which is why he has no trouble defending the criminals that he arrests. His wife, Lana (Kate Nelligan), presumably feeling neglected due to her husbands time consuming dual role, is having an affair with her mechanic, Frank (Christopher McDonald). Upon discovering a clause in Ned’s life insurance that pays triple if a particular, highly unlikely accident occurs, enlists »

Checking in with Conrad Hilton: 'Mad Men' actor Chelcie Ross speaks

9 November 2009 7:21 PM, PST | The Watcher | See recent The Watcher news »

Chicago actor Chelcie Ross has his share of memorable moments in film and onstage. Last year, for example, the actor spent several months in London when he appeared in the National Theatre’s production of "August: Osage County,” a play by Steppenwolf Theatre ensemble member Tracy Letts. "Full houses every night. It was an actor’s dream come true — 'Ok, Lord, take me now,'" Ross said. Though he was a mainstay of Chicago stages for years and also has a thriving feature career ("Rudy," "Basic Instinct," "A Simple Plan"), television viewers may know Ross best for his role as Conrad Hilton... »

Mathematicians find formula for a hit sequel

8 November 2009 3:17 AM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Calculation aims to take risk out of deciding whether follow-ups to cinema hits will be a sure thing, or a disastrous gamble

Ever wondered why Spider-Man 2 triumphed and Basic Instinct 2 bombed? Now a group of academics have come up with a mathematical formula to predict the fortunes of a film sequel.

Hollywood has long known a follow-up is a fairly safe bet and franchises from Pirates of the Caribbean to Star Wars have dominated cinema schedules for years. But until now decisions about what to invest in a sequel or how much to pay for rights to a franchise have been based on some simple rules of thumb and a good dose of gut feeling.

Based on factors such as whether key stars are still on board, how long it has been since the last film and how that performed, the researchers say they can calculate what producers can »

What's On: Rihanna and Chris Brown Face Off With Dueling, Album-Plugging Tell-Alls

6 November 2009 10:00 AM, PST | Movieline | See recent Movieline news »

Remember that time in September when Chris Brown visited Larry King Live, and with bowtie and supportive mother in place, told America that he would never discuss the details of the Rihanna-beating fiasco "out of respect for her"? Well, Brown is forfeiting that solemn vow tonight for a sit-down with MTV's Sway Calloway, during which he will try to piece together the events of that fateful, Lamborghini-rented night while plugging his upcoming album. A few hours later, Rihanna closes out her two-part Basic Instinct-inspired exclusive with Diane Sawyer, and makes sure to mention her new record. »

Part One of Rihanna's Good Morning America Interview is Emotional, Honest, and Exactly Like Basic Instinct

5 November 2009 8:45 AM, PST | Movieline | See recent Movieline news »

Rihanna's eagerly awaited ABC News blitz commenced this morning with part one of her interview with Good Morning America's Diane Sawyer, though the singer still hasn't divulged enough about the Chris Brown incident yet to force DJs into exclusively spinning "Disturbia (Felix Da Housecat's Mournful Remix)." Instead, Rihanna wore a short white dress and sat in lighting so reminiscent of Sharon Stone's interrogation scene in Basic Instinct that I half-expected an ominous reading of the line, "'Bitch,' mostly, but he meant it affectionately." Chills. Video after the jump. »

The Good, The Bad And The Wtf: Sands of Not My Freakin' Dime

4 November 2009 1:09 AM, PST | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

It's the mid-week report of the good, bad and you-know-what-the-what here, as we compile the movie news from the past week and a half. Yes, you'll have more at the end of the week—but for now, let us all cringe together as we see stomach news of the 2012 motion sickness experience, an Mib without Will Smith, and the audacity of some people to shoot a barely visible topless scene and hype it up like it was Basic Instinct 3.

The Good

• For years, there have been several attempts to do a sequel to Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, none of them ever came close to moving ahead. Speaking to MTV last week, director Robert Zemeckis set the record straight: that this time he is personally involved and really excited to do the sequel, and that he has commissioned original scribes Jeffrey Price and Peter Seaman to write the screenplay. Let's hope »

What’s all this about Paranormal Activity?

14 October 2009 8:05 AM, PDT | t5m.com | See recent t5m.com news »

To many people, The Blair Witch Project was the king of the 'cheap films about annoying people being scared into handheld cameras' found-footage genre. But those people had better get ready for a shock - Paranormal Activity has effortlessly snatched its spooky, annoying crown. If you haven't heard about Paranormal Activity yet, you soon will. It's been a sensation in America - dubbed 'the scariest movie ever made', it's apparently so frightening that Steven Spielberg got the willies after seeing it and kept his copy tied up in a binbag so the demons couldn't escape from it, which is both true and a very good reason to dislike Steven Spielberg. But what's really got people talking is the money that Paranormal Activity is making. Filmed in the director's own home and put together on a shoestring budget, Paranormal Activity managed to make its entire production budget back four times over »

Megan Fox and the modern movie murderers

14 October 2009 6:12 AM, PDT | t5m.com | See recent t5m.com news »

After attending a screening of Jennifer’s Body, the soon-to-be-released Megan Fox vehicle written by Juno’s Diablo Cody, I got thinking about evil women. The film follows the eponymous Jennifer (Fox), who becomes possessed by a demon after a ritual sacrifice goes awry, and proceeds to sustain her health by feasting on her male peers. It’s initially worth mentioning that the film warrants a look, introducing a comedic element to the horror genre and displaying Cody’s familiar witty dialogue (although, it must be noted, it’s not as clever as it thinks it is.) Beyond the script, though, and as the marketing campaign has indicated, this is basically the Megan Fox show, a practical homage to the raven-haired siren that some men would probably permit to feast upon them if it involved pre-dinner foreplay. Her look may be a little tacky for some tastes, but there’s »

Sharon Stone's revealing audition

13 October 2009 5:01 AM, PDT | Monsters and Critics | See recent Monsters and Critics news »

Sharon Stone wore a transparent blouse to win her part in 'Basic Instinct'. The 51-year-old actress - who played Catherine Stone in the 1992 erotic thriller - was so desperate to win the part she resorted to flashing her flesh in figure-hugging clothes. The New York Post newspaper reports: "To audition for 'Basic Instinct', Sharon Stone wore an Armani pantsuit and a sheer blouse with no bra underneath just to show she had no problem with nudity." Sharon - who, according to the publication, made her confession at the Hamptons Film Festival at the Bay Theater in Sag Harbor - learnt about the part after reading the movie script, which her manager had taken from a desk. She tried »

Sharon Stone Seeks Satisfaction

12 October 2009 7:50 PM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

Sharon Stone, the somewhat legendary sex symbol who emphasized the sex part of that term in films like Basic Instinct, has joined the cast of the U.K.-produced film Satisfaction. The film will be directed by Anya Camilleri, who’s somewhat of an unknown responsible for the Tara Reid vehicle Incubus.

Alongside Stone is Carice Van Houten, recently seen in Valkyrie as Tom Cruise’s character’s wife. The film revolves around “a young gigolo in London, who finds himself caught between a rich and manipulative older woman (Stone) and a younger woman (Van Houten).” Stone as a seductress? You don’t say.

The script for the film, which will start shooting early next year, has been penned by Simon Burke, the man behind Camilleri’s NY-lon and Persuasion. Thus, we have a crew with a predominantly small screen background working towards a theatrical break. Will it be enough »

Stone Maintains Positive Outlook On Love

12 October 2009 9:06 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Triple divorcee Sharon Stone is still hopeful of finding lasting love at the age of 51.

The Basic Instinct star split from her third husband, newspaper editor Phil Bronstein, in 2004 but she is refusing to let the break-ups dampen her hopes of finding true love.

She tells the New York Daily News, "I wouldn't say no to a partner. But my parents set a high standard to follow - they met at ages 14 and 15 when my Dad was a school crossing guard and helped my mum cross the street. I just want that old-fashioned kinda love, and I do think I'm going to get it."

Stone, who is set to romance toyboy Chris Evans in new drama Satisfaction, has also been married to George Englund, Jr. and TV producer Michael Greenburg. »

Shocker: Showgirls Sequel Looking Questionable

8 October 2009 10:32 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

For those of us hoping that Paul Verhoeven may one day return to his violent and campy b-movie roots, it still isn't looking likely to happen anytime soon. Until then, the only thing we have to turn to are the various direct-to-video sequels that have been churned out from his filmography. We've seen (or more likely, avoided) sequels to Starship Troopers, Basic Instinct and Hollow Man, and both Total Recall and Robocop are currently being prepped for remakes. Which leaves only one of his American films still untouched: the Razzie Award-winning Showgirls. Earlier this week a story surfaced over at German site Extratipp [1] about a potential sequel to Showgirls called Showgirls: The Story of Hope being written and directed by a guy named Marc Vorlander (whose IMDb page [2] is a completely blank slate). The movie would supposedly revolve around a minor character from the first film named Hope (Rena Riffel »

Sharon Stone has had two miscarriages. The "Basic Instinct" actress - who has three adopted sons Roan, Laird and Quinn - lost two children in the past, describing the experience as unbearable.

The 51-year-old star said: "I had two pregnancies that I lost in the late fifth month. And this is so awful because I had to go have surgery when my children died. This is a trauma that you just cannot bear."

Sharon said her continuing heartbreak at the loss of her children led her to make her well-publicized comments that suggested the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake was "karma" for the way China has treated Tibet.

She explained to Prestige magazine: "I was in some kind of crazyville. The horrific loss of those people's children caused me tremendous grief. I was relating to this earthquake like some kind of crazy mother."

Sharon Stone plays another sexy older lady in ‘Satisfaction’

If you’re wondering where Sharon Stone has been since her Anchor Bay release of Streets of Blood, you’re not the only one.

Prestige Magazine asked the Basic Instinct star if she had any current projects. I’m imagining it went a little something like this:

Prestige: So…Sharon Stone, what’s goin’ down?

Sharon Stone: I’m not sure what you mean? Is that an invitation for cunnilingus?

Prestige: Actually, it’s a dated urban vernacular for asking if there are any new events occurring that you may wish to share with us. I figured you might know this since you worked on Streets of Blood with 50 Cent…

Sharon Stone: Of course I knew that. I just thought…anyway, yes I am, it’s called Satisfaction. It’s a movie. It has sex in it. That’s what I do.

Sharon Stone Will Be Helping Out A Prostitute

6 October 2009 7:38 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Sharon Stone might be more famous for being sexually provacative than any other actress her age-- except Courtney Love, maybe, but we're not talking about her here. Sharon Stone is the woman who crossed her legs in Basic Instinct, and even at the age of 51 continues to be an icon of powerful, somewhat terrifying female sexuality. But when I tell you that she's going to star in a movie about prostitution, hold your horses. Stone won't be playing the prostitute in question. She told Pretige, a Hong Kong magazine, that her next project will be Satisfaction, about a young male prostitute (played by Chris Evans) who loses the support of one older woman (Carice van Houten) and winds up with another (Stone). In Stone's words: He goes looking for someone else to take care of him and he keeps trying to come on to [my character]. You think they have ... »
