Fun sendup of pastiche monster flicks, 26 July 2009

A group of high school hornies take their Spring Break to a secluded backwoods house, unaware that there is a mind-controlling carnivorous monster on the prowl. Only the horror movie fanatic geek of the group can save the day...if he can get anybody to listen to him.

THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE is a commendable low-budget parody, and a solid B monster flick at the same time. I usually don't care for crossing the horror and comedy genres, but I was surprised to find this one entirely enjoyable. A nice looking cast, a laughable slimy monster(imagine a giant land-dwelling tadpole with a huge, toothy rictus and tentacles bearing industrial strength suction cups), and a couple of good gross-out gore sequences make TNOT a worthy watch or the perfect party flick.
