Trivia:
Harrison Ford nearly turned down the role of Henry in Regarding Henry (1991) because the main character was a trial lawyer. He had just played one in Presumed Innocent (1990), and was afraid of being typecast. He took the role when he realized that Henry would only be functioning as a lawyer for the first ten minutes of the film. more
Goofs:
Continuity: In the scene where Henry is asked to identify different wooden shapes as part of his rehabilitation, a nurse removes the wooden circle from the table when Bradley enters the room. When we switch angles and see Henry's face, the wooden circle has not been removed and is still on the table. more

[He flicks another wad of paper at her]

[whispers sternly] Dad, I'm serious!
Henry:
I know. Very.

Harrison Ford is a good actor. Not a great one, but well above average. That's why I always approach movies where he attempts to stretch himself with some trepidation.
Thankfully, Regarding Henry is one of the times he succeeds in actually acting. It doesn't hurt that the director, writing and supporting actresses and actors are doing well also.
The acting is perfectly acceptable, if not extraordinary. Ford is trying, sometimes too hard, but at least trying to do a real acting job. The same can be said for the rest of the cast.
The writing is very good. Funny while still retaining a sense of purpose, it actually makes you care about Henry and his eventual decisions regarding his life. While in some places it does tend towards the melodramatic and in others it is by the numbers, overall this is a good screenplay.
In short, go ahead and watch the movie. It's not the best movie you will ever see, but heads above most of the movies you will watch.
